Coney 1 v 6 Cuemasters.
Cuemasters were excellent in the first 3 frames to put us under pressure at 0-3 down. Merv was excellent to pull it back to 1-3. what followed was not as high quality with 5, 6 and 7 all missing finishes they would get most weeks. Not wanting to take anything aaway from the Cuemasters though as the damage was done in the first half of the match. Top blokes and good atmoasphere as always

I really like the unpredictables every player they have is a lovely person, they were unlucky to lose 6-1 Graf Francois Terry Danny Chris I know are all good players Mick could and should have won tonight and Scottish hustler I know you lost but I honestly didn't know you was that good but I have a problem and I know this is probably out of order but last game you were short of players and you were down to the bare bones tonight.Where were the Drillers players you have signed? Again I know this will probably get me into trouble byt I think the best thing that has happened to the first division in the last 10 years is the Drillers folding.Good players rubbish comittment, your team deserves better |

Once again it's the ex drillers players fault, lack of comittent, Just to clarify the situation because this seems to come up every time. When the drillers foulded, I didnt want to play for another team, Chris phoned me asking me to play, i explained to him that i had accepted work for most tuesday nights, since i didnt want to play anymore. He told me they would be short because he was working so I said I would sign, but only play when they where short of players. I assume from what you said (and no phone call) they had 7 players, so where is the problem, is it because they wernt good enough, i guess that must be the ex drillers fault as well !!!
Also when i did turn up (when i was phoned) the captain told me he didn't think i was in his first 7 on ability anyway
And yes I was working this evening in the pissing rain !!

couldnt disagree with mavis post, great result for us especially as we always seem to lose our 1st match whenever theres any kind of break in the season, very enjoyable match as always against the coneys with some exellent pool in the first 4 frames and real scrappy stuff after that. |

Yer well played Cuemasters you have to admire the way they play. They go for some outrageous stuff and when it comes off it looks class. At 3-0 down I had nothing to say really we were just spectators. Merv gave us a sniff but we missed a key chance in frame 5 and once we had lost I will hold my hand up and say I lost the will and played like a pansy missing a dolly.
deserved win with a little bit of run for the cuemasters but would only have changed the score to 4-3 at best still to them.
For me with their strongest 7 it is really hard to see them finishing anything other than 4th and good luck to them

Farley Eden 2-5 Propeller
We talked before the game about how vital it is to get a good start against sides of the calibre of the Prop. So when you are barely 4 minutes into the match, and are all ready 2 zip down with your opening two players getting 1 visit between them, it's an uphill task. Plan A gets blown to pieces and when you don't have a Plan B, its time to dig the trenches, batten down the hatches, stick on the tin helmets and try and weather the onslaught. We did achieve that by dragging out the next 5 frames over the next 2 hours! And we had chances. Missing a sitter of a black in frame 3 was a massive blow and it reset the momentum for the Prop. Swetts tip falling off mid frame was another break for us, but with Pope's wand at the ready, who were we trying to kid it was a chance.
The Barnetson's saved the whitewash pinching the last two frames with a touch of New Year charity from ex-Eden boy, Adam 'The Dog' Hewson..... That Dog is Eden till he dies!
Next three league encounters for the Eden are huge. SAS, Rack Pack and Unpreds. Time to deliver and drag ourselves out of the mire.

thx berty as sporting as ever in praise. 4th would be great but still think its us.the patriots and coney in the mix for that spot and theres still a long way to go so were more than happy to be where we are at this early stage, would be nice for a team to challenge the top 3 but like any sport you get out of it what you put in and most of the teams below them probably only play when there cue comes out the case on a tuesday night. have to say tho i thought merv(the swerve) davis was superb last night, a true gent and still a dangerous player on his day. played a blinding positional shot on the black to beat me, and then apoligised and brought me a drink for doing just that..! pure class. |

Wasn't one of Berty's pre-season tips for the Cuemasters to be relegated? Wonder what his thoughts are now on that?!

Given that he has now predicted them to finish 4th, I don't think you would need to be Columbo to work out he has changed his mind.

yes Alex thanks for pointing that out I think you will find that my predictions were always based on them struggling for players. As they seem to be getting a full squad out each week they are a top six side with no worries.
Unlike most I am happy to hold my hands up when I am wrong which in this case I clearly was.
I decided last night (but really it has been two seasons in the making) that this season will be my last season in Croydon Pool. The travelling has become an issue and getting home often around 12:30 has taken its toll. That and I also think as a team we have come as far as we can without merging teams etc. Have loved every minute from the Jolly boys down at the Manor to the current days at the Elmer.
The Coney may continue .......that is up to the original founding father Mavis you will have to wait and see!

Any prediction of the Cuemasters getting relegated would only have been based on the fact they had recently split their summer team and there were noises from their camp about concerns over fielding a team.
With a regular consistent 7 (or even 6) they are cast iron certainties to stay up and an asset to div 1 for sure.

thanks for the compliment, nutmeg. even though i was still pee-peed off with not really getting a shot at the clearence which was there practically from the start of the game. must admit, even with 2-3 balls on the table, kyle did really well to stop me being able to go for it.
and can i just point out i hadn't slept for 30 hours
