It's part and parcel of what is an attacking set of rules. I'd sooner have this option than being forced into playing a nothing shot because I have to make an attempt to hit my own ball.
To be honest there are very few 'deliberate fouls' played in Div 5. We're all too busy breaking and dishing |

World rules are the nuts. The more u get used to them the better u will become. It invites a more attacking game, but at the same time it allows u to f**k people up in tacticle play. In my opinion, if you understand pool to a 'right shot' level, then it is definately the way forward. Personally I could never go back to the old tuck up s**t.

Was having a few frames down the local at the weekend with a few boys who don't play in the league, so played old rules.
Broke out in a cold sweat when they started rolling up behind balls, and then picking the white up with two, and smashing my ball in I had over the bag, only for them to still have two. . . . .
It was sicker than a plane to Lourdes.

I do hate it when you play a good shot to take a pocket...
And some numpty comes along and pots your ball!
And also when you play a good snooker...
And no attempt whatsoever is made to get out of it!!
Really skillful that is...

Luke, out of interest, why does the link under your message go to "The Rack Pack Show, starring a load of diva's"?

Genious!
I love the line 'The Rack Pack Show is a celebration of great women through the 20th century!'

THE BETTER HALFS.
It's a game of two halfs, (hence our team name) and only the fit and well advised survive.
I agree with much of the comment made here on the DF. I do hate the Friday night Pool having to waste a ? on the table only to play some numnut who comes along and plays all stupid things allowed in the old rules or pub rules. World rules certainly do make a better and more experience player and much of the time played against somebody who only knows pub rules will be defeated.
The DF is a brilliant tool to have when playing against a world rule experienced player but when over excercised for no good reason, ie when many shots are on, the player committing the foul is only showing to his apponent that he is running scared, thus making the game boring and will shortly fall victim to his own success.
In a nutshell, the DF is a brilliant tool but only as and when really needing to use it. |
