Legion 4-6 Jolly
Very good natured game, as always between the two teams, good luck for the last 2 rounds of fixtures. Chris, Clive and Lads, thanks . . .
Two games to go, should be tight for a few teams, but for a team that hasnt yet once been tipped to win, we are hanging in there.
Great credit to my team after the loss 11-9 to the Eden in the Plate Semis, to show we are not that bad a side, as others may think. |

Not sure anyone believes you have a bad side, more a case of the jury is still out on whether you have a side that is able to produce consistent performances in Div 1. Forget the summer league, its weak, and historically has never been as strong as the winter and that is where you will be judged.
Jolly certainly have two or three players who are Div 1 standard but thats not enough these days to keep yourselves in Div 1, especially in a tougher winter league. Its all about the strength and depth of squad. 10 players producing 50% plus is better than 2 or 3 producing 60%.
Only the Unpreds, Patriots (ex Two Brewers), Eden, and Coney have proved in recent years they can get there and then regularly maintain their status in Div 1. With the Cuemasters proving when they get their act together they are a top half team, that doesn't leave that much room in Div 1 these days.
Coney disbanding and a weaker Hot Shots, there is going to be opportunities for the newly promoted sides and the likes of the Bloodhounds to improve on last seasons good performance. |

Agree. . .
Winter League will be much tougher of course, especially with players returning from their Summer teams and we do have a small team to choose from, so it will be down to myself, Steve and Chris to be more than just consistent and give us a base if possible. Main thing is we have a team that has been together for a long time now who enjoy themselves, win or lose (sometimes loudly admittedly) and will give it a go
So, fingers crossed
Time will tell if we are strong enough to stay up in the Winter League, but with no bonus points next year, will be closer than ever for the league positions |

i actually disagree when people say the summer league is week. with the better players being spread through various teams i feel there is certainly more strength in depth then there is in the winter where all the top players play for say the 3 top teams. taking the rileys out of the equation the leage is a lot more closer where as in the winter where you have say 3 teams and the rest!. hopefully this winter we may see a few teams contesting the top 3 certainly with the hot shots and eagles weakened maybe the prop will be the team to beat.

we may need a bigger boat..! |

Th league is stornger, but the stronger teams are weaker if that makes any sense.
The Jolly cant be a bad team because they have won matches in the Summer League. The SAS for example got smashed last year in the Summer and this was replicated when they played in the Winter.
The Jolly should be looking at survival in the first instance, and then see what happens after that.

I can confirm, it was indeed Surrey 193's 5 - 5 The Prop.
After losing the first set 3-2, we came back well, if my last player had found the ability to roll 4 easy balls in we would have beat them 6-4!
Never mind sh1t happens!! hmygod: |
