I suspect all these comps this year will be rubbish.... Nonetheless next year and future events will be great, because the idea is very good. Live with the problems this year and it will turn out nice again.

Due to the time scale involved in getting these comps off the ground for this season I opted to scrap the entry form procedure and enter everybody. I appreciate all comments previously made but my aim was to get the comps talked about and give everyone a window to enter right up until registration time on the day. It might not be an ideal situation but I do believe that it will attract further entries. It is based upon the ranking comps that will follow the div singles through may & june. The one good thing is that the comps will run this year instead of being initiated next season. A possibility for next season is using the Singles, Doubles & Team KO entry forms for confirmation of entries. |

I don't think you need prior confirmation from players - just give the organiser a list of eligible players so that they can check them off and draw it on the day. |

I have no problem with that and seeing that a list of eligible players for all divisions has already been circulated I also do not have a problem with your idea being adopted from today. You will need to get feedback from the players who turn up today. |

I was actually thinking more of for the future rather than this time round but I'll probably pop in later. |

Just spotted this, apologies I will be unable to attend.
I had Saxton as well. Now I know why he has been a bit quiet recently.

We had 26 turn up yesterday . . Wasn't as many as we hpoed but still made for a good day of pool with some poker thrown in for good measure . .
Wiggy was a worth winner of the inaugural event to the extent where the 5-2 scoreline flattered me somewhat . .
It became immediately apparent that the pre-draw probably won't work in the future but we made the most of what we had and it bodes well for future events . . |

There is 11 teams in div one with say 12 in a squad
thats makes 131
and 26 turned up thats not good
it will be interesting how many players div 3 gets
this is only an estimation

26 turnout is poor no matter how you try and dress it up. Timing of event was all wrong, pre-drawn event a totally ridiculous idea. This is an event which should be played at the end of the season, and maybe even over one or two week days? |

26.... I wonder how many 1st Div players would turn up if the lower divisions were involved. Or am I being a bit cynical. I would be surprised if the lower divisions have a worse turn up. But we will see.

Even plan 'B' has failed |

think in future draw has to be done on the day so everyone knows who is turning up especially as its a free event there is no need for anyone to stump money up front to confirm there entry. dont think lower division players not being there would have any effect whats so ever! there seems to be a vision from lower divisions that all division 1 players ever do is play pool practice competitons ect, probably only a small percentage do but in fact for most of us its a case of pick your cue up for tues and then it goes away again until the following week! thats why probably a majority of players did not turn up on saturday because of more important things on or simply to do what they normally enjoy doing at a weekend. . |

Its the first year, and was bound to have issues. I think the lower division ones will be better supported, and think in future this will be a very worthwhile event. I would have no hesitation in playing in this next year.
There is no money in it so that may put some off, but frankly the whole league set up has never been about money, and I personally think the league is better for it.
Good luck to the rest of the divisions. Even with low numbers it was a good day.

I hope it's better supported but I have a feeling it won't be.
I'm going to be running a qualifier on the same day as the Div 5 one which will hopefully mean it's a bit busier. |
