A result that even shocked us!!! Being honest, though, there was only one clear cut frame, which I lost..all the others were hard fought...at 7-2 I had a conversation with Mark Anderton, and said that I thought the scoreline really flattered us....his response was that it didn't, and that in many frames our players had pulled out crucial doubles to turn or win them, and on that basis we deserved it...very generous of you, Mark, because the match was a hell of a lot closer than the scoreline suggests, in my opinion.
We only had a basic 5, and our players dug deep - they had to, because the Colby were not there to make up the numbers, but I feel special mention is due to Chris Bateman for another 2/2, James Hills for winning two really hard battles where lesser players would have been found wanting, and to Trevor Payne for 3/3....probably the best I have seen him play for the team...
Add that to England topping the group and avoiding Spain, and all in all a fantastic night!!!
The Colby are a good team, and good sports....very gracious in defeat...good luck guys - until the return...lol...
