Not the best night for us but we had chances to get a draw but when we failed to take the chances the Wandering Dogs were able to take out the finishes, maybe not at the first time of asking but certainly at the second.
Cheers for a good night lads, will see you in the Winter Fortune Favours the Brave...
Having recovered from 2-0 down, back to 2-3 up at half-time, the Thicket lost 6-4 in the end. The match was an integral part of the 3-way bottom of the table relegation scrap that has developed, with the Thicket just one point ahead of the Forum before kick off (and one point behind at the final whistle), with the Waddon bottom, just one point further adrift going into this week's fixtures.
The few stragglers of us remaining were yawning well into the evening (which finished at 11:45) with the guys and barstaff from Forum B. Many thanks to the barstaff for cheerily staying on past closing time, and for their fine selection of top quality sarnies!
The Forum B secretary gave away the secretaries game (so there should have been another game!) because he is away for a fortnight to look after a zoo with only one animal (a small dog - I think it was a *******zu?). The previous zoo-keeper (Larry LaPrise, famous for writing the Hokey Cokey) died suddenly and the rest of the zoo staff are apparently busy, helping the undertaker get him into the coffin....
All in all was a good match, if a little overly cagey at times, but the guys from the Forum are a really great bunch, and very welcoming.
It felt like a home game for two of our team having already played two away doubles fixtures at the Forum already this season, both of whom recorded a win for the Thicket last night!
