A very comfortable win this evening, playing on a table with little cueing room, but roll on the quarter finals I say.
A nice boozer has to be said, not been there before myself, but a very friendly bunch of folk there.
Unfortunately, we received a call at 8pm from The Thicket to say they couldn't get a team together, as they only had 2 players, so had no option but to give us the walkover. Even more unfortunately, it later transpired that another member of the Thicket team actually came to Rileys soon after 8pm (although I didn't find out who he was until 9pm), so they could have fielded the minumum 3 after all. A harsh lesson in team communication.
We only had 4 players so started 2-0 down which soon became 5-1 down. Managed to get back to 5-5 & Chris Hazell who was captain on the night decided to play the decider & won the match.
OK, their player doubled the black & went in off at the same time in the decider which was very unlucky, but we still did well to come back from 5-1 down.
I would rather be playing golf
