Power, haven't you got any players you can give us again? Ansell worked out very nicely in the end.
I am not up for directly approaching players in established teams but i know from experience that their are a lot of good players in the lower divisions that could cope in Div 1. If any of those players fancy having a go send me a message... |

what is the rule on transfers during mid season.... there must be some sort of restrictions. In my old league up north there was a transfer fee of ?50 per player midseason which not only stop ppl from swapping left right and centre but made players actually think about what team they wanted to join rather than going for the best team they could get in, in case they didnt get a game etc.
Juts wondering if there's a limit in the cpdl to how many times u can swap during season. |

Both secretaries have to agree on the transfer. The fee is the same as any other mid-season registration which is ?2.50 I believe. |

None of my players like your team. Then again, neither did Ansell.
I'll do you a favour, god knows why I should bother after Berty's tantrum yesterday, but I know for a fact 3 ex-Wheatsheaf players are now regulars in the Elmer. Maybe have a word around the pub and you may get lucky.
Plus you may recall a player of ours from years back, Andy Stevenson. Don't think he has played league standard for few years but he can hold a cue, and he is a local fella and I can give you his mobile number if you want to buzz him.

Alex, not wishing to destroy this new found entente cordiale, however I saw Andy at the Langley whilst playing in a singles match. Had a quick chat with him. He is now running a darts team, and said he doesn't miss pool.
Don't want to sound like I am being obstructive, just want to prevent false hope. We need to keep all the teams we have.... |

Don't understand that one Berty.
The players in question are currently not attached to any pool team. |

The first person I met was Merv... most hated man in all of Croydon. Alex, I appreciate you like a bit of stirring banter for some fun here and there but posting lies that are potentially hurtful to people that have no qualm with you is uncalled for on a public forum. Shortened: don't be a **** and lie about me in order to stir shit with my teamates |

Surely if you have 5 or 6 players each week you can carry on, your only giving away 1 frame every couple of weeks and on your past few seasons form you should be able to cope with that and stay in Div 1? You must still have somne fight left in you guys, i see the only reason for you to quit would be that you are scared of possibly dropping into the relegation spots but thats part of the fun. Mid table boredom is no fun anyway.
The Eden dont want you to fold, it would be like australia saying "were not going to play the ashes this year as we know were going to lose". You cant always have 7 brilliant players, sometimes you have to consolidate your position rather than going for glory. The only way you will ever attract new players of a reasonable quality is to have some fight and prove to people that you can cope in these situations. Saying you are going or not going to fold every other day does not give anyone confidence that your team will be around much longer and so why would they want to join you?
We have really struggled for the last 3 years for players, we even had 3 of croydons big players all come and play for us in the same season and even that didnt really help us out much. We spent 2 seasons giving away 1 to 2 games a week fielding players that were probably not div 1 quality but we still survived albeit with a couple of close relegation calls.
The difference for us is that Alex has always managed to get us that 1 or 2 extra players to keep us ticking over but whilst still keeping the core of the team the same. And some of those players have come due to our somewhat outspoken nature and Eden ROAR, as they like a team with spirit.
So forget all this talk of folding and start thinking about next season and how your going to get enough players and help to enjoy your Tuesdays again. When your in the position your in its horrible and folding sounds like a nice way out but give it a couple of months and you will be wondering if it was the right decision, and then if you want to re-form you have to start in Div 6 all over again. Get 2-3 new players for next year, they dont have to be brilliant but reliable and maybe share out some of the admin work to allow you to enjoy it again and im sure you will be fine.
And if your not happy with some posts on this website then just dont reply to them, but i would say spending your working day on this message board is not a healthy place to be. Message boards always end up with these acrimonious conversations which dont do anyone any favours. |

Fair point sting a pretty well constructed argument. We have signed a new player and have convinced internally to commit to the end of the season as we always said we did not want to walk out mid season. I will commit to the rest of the season and keep on travelling etc but with increasing work commitments (I dont spend every day on here !) I will finish at the end of this season. If the format changes to 5 next season Luke (who is running the team now) may decide to continue next season. In terms of our team spirit it is as good as ever that was never the problem I guess somethings can just reach their natural conclusion and without wanting to start afresh or merge teams this may be our natural conclusion. Nearly ten years is a long time for the same group of players to be in a team?!! You should know!

Berty... How long do you want this thread to run... "We have signed a new player"... Everyone knows your "Blood Brother" The Power is going to be on that like fly on shit... Why did you not just say we signed Steve Fields or who ever... So up yours Alex...??? End of conversation...

Come on Farley, lets face it - it's embarrassing for them. I'm embarrassed for them.
After all, what is there to 'big' up about publicly having to concede when dipping into the transfer market, the Coney end up signing what amounts to past or present Eden 'fringe' players...........
