Hughie has improved no end this season playing as well as he did 15 years ago, but it's Danny's season, being in singles final & top of the individuals(even though he missed a game and I dropped him for a game) I think so far is a fantastic achievement |

the coney cuemasters mmmmm who knows.!.! i think as it stands with the team we probably wouldnt carry on next season as the players who can play regular all want to play competitive pool and unfortunately due to other players work and family commitments this is impossible... considering we are probably the worse turned out team in terms of being short for matches i think we have done great to stay up but that wont last. next winter league i think the elmer and bromley teams will more than likely reform as the one team and hopefully luke davis will stay on and play in the team if the coney do indeed fold. if this happens we will have a very strong and competitive line up for the 1st time in many years.... the thing i noticed about the eden in our last match was the hunger and competiveness throughout the team which there new sighnings have added and for to long this league has been about who finishes 4th behind the prop eagles and hot shots and im sure they would welcome a challenge from other teams next season. the eden have proved they can compete with 3 fine wins against the big 2! the patriots also done great by beating the prop in the KO cup final, even the unpredictables have the team on paper to threaten but have been a massive dissapointment this season again.! we feel with a revamped team we could really trouble the top teams and that is what we are looking to achieve next season. |

And not to mention how embarassing its all going to be if you change your minds especially after 59 enthralling chapters of the 'Coney Folding'. Nobody will ever take you seriously again.....
And even you alex must be able to see how ridiculous that sounds coming from you but I am sure I am wrong. |

The other thing to mention is that it was the davis family that brought us all to this league wheras before none of us had really played in a league or really even played much pool to be honest. We all played for the Coney without really much interest in what went on around us. Now that the Coney is folding I doubt there will be much interest from anyone in continuing playing pool in any capacity apart from Luke and saxton and more power to them. Merv will get his fix in Portland and other than that I think golf is on the cards! |

Plus we will all have the added bonus for you not logging on the site once you've folded, and thats what I am looking forward to the most.
Oh, and of course not having to see you all again..... op:
Apart that is from Rob Spry who has always wanted to sign for us since he was going to school in his shorts. I've all ready told Rob we'll not make him have to undertake a play-off before each match.

Everyone should focus above on two words.....'I doubt'...
It strikes me they haven't all sat down and talked about this....

I didn't realise that once we are no longer in a team that we are barred from the CDPL web site!! How are we going to get our Alex bashing fix?
And you obviously realise there is no point in me playing a one frame decider, at last... you rate me |

You make me laugh alex this is your life...berty bashing is your passion you send me more texts than you do between all of your family and mates put together. just admit it alex you are going to miss me. It is unhealthy to talk about another man as much as you do about me and to hang on every message that we post on this site but as long as you enjoy it that is the main thing. I think you are just struggling to believe that there is life after pool which I am gonna take a stab at and say there probably is.
That will leave the rest of the site to enjoy your one way banter as you like it.
big up

I won't miss you Berty, not even one incey wincey little bit. The day I defeated you, 'Bashing Berty' as you put it, was done and the most enjoyable moment I have and will ever experience on a pool table. I sense you will be disappointed to hear that, but it's true.
From a Croydon Pool League perspective a team who folds and drops off the radar is not good news.
But CPDL will continue and its sad to say but true, that in no time at all what the Coney achieved or didn't achieve will be long forgotten and you will be just become a statistic on a long list of teams who failed to either cut it or keep afloat.
If you don't want me to respond then its best you don't entice me to post a reply. After all, I can tell all this is getting you down.

I have always rated you Rob as a talented player, but I think you have misunderstood the comment I made or maybe Berty has over the period of time manipulated that comment.
Its fair to say Matthew in the past has been guilty of placing you up there with the top players in Div 1. What I said was that the stats will prove thats not the case and it's easy to 'overate' someone. I think and stand by my comment that Matthew did just that.
We don't do one frame play-off deciders to earn yourself a start in the Eden team. I am the Captain and I pick the team, it's that easy and is far less stressful for all concerned.

I still rate rob but by his own admission has never converted it consistently but such is the standard in div one that even if you are naturally talented you have to give yourself that extra 5% by practising which rob simply does not do.
Anyway there are 101 things i could say about everying you put on here but there is literally no point cos 1. you cannot let rest until you have the last word & I can't be arsed to argue and 2. they are related to pool and in 2 weeks that will have precisely zero bearing in my life.
So I will repeat fair play to ya and good luck. If it settles the argument I am am a shocking captain that had a thoroughly unhappy team around him based on poor decisions, picking my mates and holding play offs before matches.
The guys all hate me what can I say.
take it easy and good luck in everything you decide to undertake in life |

Why's that sad? We have absolutely no expectation for anything different. The Drillers are Croydon legends and (with respect) have not really been spoken about much at all since they disbanded.
Alex: If you want to be perceived as being better at pool/having more friends/a bigger penis/better glasses/a better geek chic wardrobe/larger testicles/bigger biceps/a fitter partner/nicer trainers/a bigger house/more money/a nicer haircut/better business acumen
Do you know what mate? You can have it.
But a better pool team?
Never

I agree other than that Rhys Bowen character. Got no time for him. Evil.
Merv however is officially the nicest person in the whole world. |

I have no animosity towards any of you. We turn up every week to win, play with a passion and a desire to compete with the top boys. I know over the last decade we have upset certain people. I have to make no apologies for that. Though I think in recent years we have grown up a little bit!!
We had a healthy relationship with the Coney until the night Luke Davis, James Davis and Matt Palmer choose to change all that.

Berty - thanks for the info on what all your players are doing with their lives but i dont see any of them posting the same sentiments. It seems that you may be speaking for them?
Perhaps they are too scared by your "Team Manegement Skills" to disagree with your edict of "We are folding end of" to say that they might like to carry on.... |
