folly had the right to claim a walkover waddon didn't it is shambolic unbelieveable display of disregard and lack of respect to the beechtree especially from a pivotal figure in an authority type role really has handled this wrong and still so quiet on the situation
I think I got a bite ... And it's a big one |

This is seriously rude, unsporting and just low. If I was in the Waddon Wizzards then I would be so embarrassed that I want this game to be played!
If they had a hope of winning the division then I could kind of understand this a little (not condoning though) but they won't walk away with silverware for this, just egg on their faces and rightly so.
They need to make sure that they aren't late for any matches this season- I doubt they will find too much understanding with the teams that they will be playing now.

dogger caution needed. This is exactly what us at the beechtree was trying to avoid. Firstly pantony wanted to rescedule to a different evening, after asking my team we decided we could not get enough of us on any other night than a Tuesday (poker, football etc). I told him this on the phone which he tried his damdest to call me unsporting!!! Then told me he was going to get the match resceduled to the end of the season, after that nothing heard back from him apart from the forementioned missed call on 22/8. After that phone switched off and the other line does not accept incoming calls!!! (fat load of good that is). Remarkably though he was quick enough to call me on Wednesday ranting and raving down the phone that now he has claimed the 10-0 against us!! Not so much the points that we are worried about seeing where we are in the table, but the way that this has happened and aparently leaving a missed call on someones phone constitutes as informing them!!!!
Cheaters never prosper, speak to mark and claim your rightfull win.

I think a key point has been missed here Dogger has stated the league 14 rule that the match must be played within two weeks now as the waddon were the ones who cancelled they must have to appease the away squad now if beechtree say they can't play apart from Tuesdays then at the AGM which I will be going to the walkover can be reversed to the beechtree and if the flying machine claim a walkover that will be 2 walkovers in a season for the waddon. Now beechtree have been assured there's no further punishment for them but for the waddon however if the decision was overturned then a further stipulation would be that the waddon would have to be entered as a new team in the leagues and they would be shuffled down losing their league standing. Complex I know but just and right punishment for their actions .

Good points by both Faz and Raz (no ryme intended!!) Looks like it could be an interesting AGM even though I think there will be more discussion in AOB than anything else
My best goes out to all other teams in the division for the rest of the season, don't let one spoil what has been an enjoyable season for the rest of us. |

are we in our right, as the team who was postponed against, after no contact from the waddon to reschedule, to claim a 10-0 win? yes or no

Agm will be a hoot!
Dogger, option 1) to recind your sporting gesture and claim the match.
Option 2) if the above not allowed then you can either bash them up in the rearranged fixture OR if you decide that you are out of the title race , do nothing and the match will be void thus ensuring the waddon recieve nish (as do you mind).
What winds me up is the fact that the rules are being used to suit as technically you CANNOT re-arrange (this rule bent) and the beechtree should be Kicked out (avoided and agree!) however, with the league fully aware of the missunderstanding a walkover win has been allowed (wow a rule has been followed) when really common sense should have ensured the game was replayed. Why have the *******in rules in the first place.... |

dogger my advice would be to contact Mark directly ( croydonpoollge@aol.com ) and ensure everything checks out before you do anything. Caution and backing your arse on every move is needed on this one.
Believe me I have found out the hard way |

I would without hesitation.
Do you need to inform them? If so then just call them, let the phone ring once and then hang up before anyone can answer, then and this is the important part, you've got to turn your phone off as soon as you hang up! This will count as suitable notice to cover your arse.

duno when we're gona do it coz no one else can be bothered to play any other nights. (the whole team, including me did tell our sec to tell them no, that we wont postpone it, but he rung them n told them we would grrrr )
well we'll wait to see by how much we beat the eden on tuesday wether we have a chance for the title...
but in all seriousness, if we took a 10-0, we'd have a great shout with catching 3rd and getting promotion, although its not how we'd like to get there.
i think after this season postponing games should be banned. Only for reasons of Cup matches with pubs havin 2 teams using home table etc. Tuesday night is pool night. If you cant get a team together (of 5 people out of a possible 12 you can have signed...) then tough sh**. you forfit the game. thats what the rules state. If the match really means that much that you dont want to give away the walkover, then you'll manage to get a team together... (or get a cab!!!)
anyway. if we have not received any contact from the Waddon Wizzards by Tuesday (we will NOT be contacting them, it is not our postponement) we will be claiming a walkover win due to 2 weeks after original date.

Dogger - I would be careful claiming anything without talking to Mark. My understanding is that the 2 week rule does only apply to cup matches. Otherwise, as per Mark's results email you have to complete any postponed matches before the last game of the season. That said it will be up to Waddon to rearrange your game before then. However if they don't then I think that you would both get no points for a void match which is as equally punishing for you for being sporting in the first place as it is for them! That of course does not make sense! |

surely all that is going to happen now based on this issue is that any team asked to re-arrange a match are going to say NO!
which brings us back to the rules that say no matches can be postponed full stop.
if you give an inch it seems there are always certain people that will take a mile |

just so everyone knows, our postponed game with the waddon wizzards is provisionally booked for Monday 14th September. My secretary had a few missed calls today and after speaking to the waddon have arranged it for then. It needs to be confirmed by us on tuesday as cant get hold on any one else in the team lol.
cheers waddon for sorting it
i still believe the matter of postponments for next season needs to be addressed at the AGM tho.
