eden 3 coney 4

a high standard tonight apparently and as usual as dignified in victory as we are in defeat.

no smugness needed this match was our season after losing the first match.

the eden are forever in our pockets and as if this cake needed any icing......

saxton beat power in the decider.

Poetry ...plain and simple poetry.

Bloodhounds 6 - 1 Patriots

Easily our best victory of the season. Apart from the class of Tony Jackson in frame 3, we held our own in all the other frames and took out some great finishes!!

This also included me missing the black 3 times in the last frame and still winning. We also won without our captain (Eden) - not bad eh?band playing

lol.

Pleasing result for the Coney in what will probably be the last ashes encounter. If nothing else it was worth winning to avoid the endless crap that followed on the site when we lost earlier this season.

The Eden have always made it clear that don't rate Rob so it was particularly sweet that he break and dished on 1. Mat A and Rhys won on 2 and 3 to make it 3-0. Great character followed from the Eden with Merv performing below par on 4, Arthur break dishes with class (as usual) on 5 (the 4th time Luke has been break dished this season in the league). I got one shot on 6 and played a half decent plant to partially block a pocket (fuck all else on lol) for Rab to take out a superb clearance, that concluded a Davis hatrick of disgrace.

The rest......is history

3-3 Step up Paul Saxton and Alex Barnetson.

Paul Saxton:

The years of practice come down to this frame. The endless sessions with Andy Breen. The hundreds of Friday nights in the Elmer beating the chopper locals. The thousands of miles travelling to play in competitions losing to better players in the first round to gain experience. The continued DFs (over a million now). The thousands of pounds spent fine tuning your flawless cue action.

If you never pick a cue up again this one frame made it all worthwhile. Hold your head up high mate.

The more and more I think about it the more it makes me laugh.

saxton is my hero saxton is my hero a la la la a la la la

and so it ends 3 - 3 in wins between the sides and the coney with the aggregate frame advantage and of course the beckenham ashes for ever in their cabinet, Let alone the fact we have finished above them in the other two seasons and are currently above them in this season. Yes it is the only trophy we will ever win but I very much doubt that any other could feel this sweet. Yes alex has 250 quid of my money but I would have paid any amount of cash to finish this debacle with bragging rights. The constant verbal barrages unprovoked attacks etc can all lay to rest and I can hang up my cue at the end of the season quite simply with a smile on my face knowing that a certain person lost his arse to give me that feeling.

cheers buddy

Frame 1 - Rob Nice B/D against me, Just had to sit & watch, nice clearance as he ran out of position a couple of times & what looked easy at first had to recover with 2 good shots, including the black

Then i am not 100 % sure what happened next but we were 3-0 down

Frame 2 - Sting broke pots 5 & does not make it count only for Ansell to fluke his 2nd to last ball (Tried to pot it & it went in-off his other ball - But them is the breaks & he took out a nice last shot to get on the black)
Frame 3 - Scott has 2 shots & in a simple foul snooker - Plant his opponents ball onto his & take out a dolly finish - Instead has a mare forgets the rules picks the white up & still plays the plant - 3 Zip down from absolutely knowhere - ridiculous, but if you don't know the rules then you can't have any complaints really

Then as has already been said - Class from Barry/Arthur/Rab

Then Alex gets into a tactical match with Saxton & well the rest is history - Well played Paul S, tactically he has a great knowledge of WR & as showed yesterday if given the chance can really hurt you with them

The Eden - Coney saga has only been going for 3 years & looks to be all over (Although Paul S said on Sunday he & a few of the others may play on)

Good luck for the rest of the season chaps - Well played over the years & making an impact in Div 1, A few things down the years have turned the games a bit sour but that is the way it rolls - I would hope to get another chance to beat you fellas - But it looks unlikely - Unless you want a match to settle it once and for all chasing a chicken

I thought it was a joke when I heard about Saxton's exploits at 3-3 but I take my hat off to him . . It's not the first time he's done the business at 3-3 . . I bet Berty still drops him laughing

It's battles like this that make the league great and more importantly, interesting . . I spoke one of the SAS last night and they love the fact that they've been so dire this year and are pumped up ready for the next campaign . . The Bloodhounds late charge to survive leaving the Unpredictables staring relegation in the face . . It's quality . .

Rumour has it that the Eden's new signing and arguably best player didn't make it to the match from Suzy's last night confused

Cheers Dave nice to see one of you guys on here and praising what was a great effort from our guys under immense pressure I cannot praise them enough.

Still waiting to get anything other than bitter texts from alex but we will have to see if he can rise above it and say well done. but in his own words we deserve no praise and thus we will get none which is what I expected 100%.

Saxtons early season form was dissapointing I think he had won 2 out of 9 in the league at one stage and hence was prone to the odd drop. However in the last two weeks he has provided monster wins against the hot shots and in what was described by him as his best ever win last night v the Power under what must have been serious pressure and for that I cannot praise him enough. For that I am sure he will be starting against the Eagles in two weeks after our bye.

As for the Coney who knows it is not my team it is lukes to decide and whatever he decides to do I wish him all the best.

Big up the Coney

I am getting very worried about the Power. The silence is deafening. Just heard a report that a pile of clothing and a cue-case have been found on the beach at Southend. An apparent suicide note was attached. The note started "Once I was good at pool but......" Having carried out extensive enquiries, the police have concluded that it can't be from Alex, unless he was telling lies !! laughing laughing

strange game v hot shots last night obviously we was short so a bit deflated and they didnt quite seem as sharp as we know they can be so funny game although considering our circumstances it was a great result.

It always amazes me how someone so talented at trying to make other people look small cannot suck it up when they are looking tiny. As much as it has pained me I have always come on here in the face of humiliation and bitten the bullet to congratulate in the face of defeat, I know you are reading the posts alex so come on repeat after me......"Well done the Coney"?

I guess that losing is a difficult thing to take, but as we all know we only seem to get up for the big games these days & we only get 6 of those a season (Hot Shots/Ego's/prop) & the Cup comps (A foot in the Quarters already)

That is why we consistently finish knowhere in the League but every season we win against the big boys & of the teams in the battle for 4th - relegation we are a team that can always be considered a danger to any team over any format - We realise that to beat us is your only realistic goal - But hats off as you have beaten us again & may finish 6th in DIV 1 cracking stuff chaps Shockne: trophy for your cabinets lads

Seriously though - Don't fold the team when next year you may even finish 5th - please lads don't do it shag

One can only presume that Alex was in a very bad mood when he arrived home. His wife has probably made him sit on the naughty stair until his mood changes. Possibly there is no computer terminal in the hall, so he can't comment until he cheers up !! laughinglaughing
