Jolly 5-5 Legion

We were 5-2 up, Legion clawed it back well, but we had the chances to see this out comfortably

Sad to see them go down, should see them come straight up - full team permitting

Well, after being predicted to go down , we have stayed in both the Summer and the Winter Leagues top divisions . . . a top quality new addition for next Winter should see us even better placed

Clive and Lads, cheers

Farley Eden 5-5 Hot Shots

Match started at 8.45pm and finished an hour later. Two defensive shots all night - both by me.

We missed a ball, they won. They missed a ball, we won. 3-2 down at the turn. 4-3, then 5-4 up.

Truey for us was on electric form for us winning both frames. The night witnessed two sick blacks - one from Boy Wonder Watkins, the other from Rod the God. Player of the night for Hot Shots, no surprises really was Mark 'Eden till I die' Eldridge who found some of his old 1999-2002 Eden form by reeling off two sublime finishes...

Two big results in the last 2 weeks of the season maintains our Div 1 status. Well done to my players who dug deep and got the job done.

Fancy we may win it next year.

what he wants us to say is 'yes if next year does not include the Eagles the Prop the Hotshots the Patriots or the unpredictables' but in truth the Eden are good enough to be a top 4 side, I just think the constant sniping pos counts against them. Just a thought.

I agree mr. Nuttman could be a top four side and as for the sniping it is a good laugh everyone knows what the eden about and we do respect all the teams in our own way apart from the pond I mean not playing your game because arsenal were on getting slaughtered and the fact we relegated them the week before is shameless just shows what the pond are about. Must say barrys black finish was awesome I think I wet my pants after that and then rod to replicate well it gave me a semi LOL well done to the eagles and unlucky to the prop can't wait for next season

Final Standings

Baring a 7-3 win for London over the Patriots the final standings as follows.

Eagles - 140 (champs)
-----------------------------------------------
Hot Shots - 134 (more wins)
Propeller - 134
Patriots - 127
Unpredictables - 117
Cuemasters - 108
Jolly - 101
Farley Eden - 97
Bloodhounds - 93
-----------------------------------------------------
London Snooker - 92 (R)
Legion - 90 (R)
Pond Q's - 82 (R)

In summary a fantastic achievement for the Eagles to win yet another league title with a considerably weaker squad than last year. The Prop with the addition of Dolan threatened right to the end and the Hot Shots fought well considering again reduction to their squad. Eagles proved that winning is a habit and they were deserved winners with more wins than any other team.

Unpredictables will feel they have room to break in to the top four as they actually won more games than the Prop this season but results against the teams around them cost them, same goes for the Patriots who will feel they can push upwards next season.

Cuemasters will feel that they did not convert enough good starts in to wins against the top sides. I think against the big boys they only lost a maximum of one game in the whole season but 7 wins out of 22 speaks volumes. The Cuemaster drew twice as many games as any other team in the division however I predict them to push on next year.

The Jolly will feel extremely proud of their season with a cup run to boot. To be safe in your first year in div one with 3 weeks left is a great achievement.

The Eden like many sides struggling with getting a full squad out and perhaps inexperience led the squad to lose it a bit in the middle with a terrible run of defeats. The Eden are building for the future and i would suggest a top half finish next season would be something to build on in comparison to the last week struggles of the last few seasons.

The Bloodhounds looked dead and buried with a few weeks left however they have deserved their place in the top flight as they won as many games as the Cuemasters who were comfortable. The Bloodhounds need to convert their performances against the big boys to grinding out the same kind of results against the mid table teams.

For London baring a 7-3 miracle that would be against their run of form tonight they are down. With only 4 victoires from 22 games it is hard to argue that they deserved to stay up. There are positives however in that they took it to the wire and finished above two sides who have division 1 pedigree.

For the Legion and the Pond it is back to the drawing board and you can't help but think that if they do come back up next season they will need an extra player or two to stay up. I think that with the deegans the legion have a great chance but they need a play like Scott to come back.

In connclusion the tightest ever battle at the top and who knows what next season will bring.

Forum A, Imps and the Warbank in the fold with spruce things up. The Forum will be confident after a great cup run and the Warbank have always been a tough team to beat.

Imps will start as massive favourites for the drop in my opinion as they are an unknown quantity but that should be exactly the catalyst they need to prove people wrong. All 3 promoted sides will be favourites for relegation but who knows what next season will bring.

Its been emotional

congratulations to the eagles on yet another title! it certainly didnt look like this was going to happen earlier in the season when the prop were demolishing everyone but 1 defeat all season is a superb effort. shame to have to say goodbye to the legion pond and slates! but am sure they will all be in the mix next season in division 2! great effort by the patriots as well this season who for so long looked like they may pull off an unlikely suprise but full credit to them for sticking in there considering how many players they have in there squad! great right up again berty and pretty much agree with all you said! with exception to the top 3 there are probably 4 teams who are all capable of pushing fourth spot but consistency lets them down! we have been unbelivably consistent this season in getting draws thich is frustrating considering the vast majority of games we have been in front! on the plus side only 4 defeats all season is a good base to build on,but hopefully with a more settled team next year we will push on! still trying to work out our 0-0 draw last night tho! very strange.

Berty, you correctly predicted the outcome at the top and bottom when you started posting again a few weeks back, so I don't know why anyone bothered turning up to play to the inevitable conclusion.

I am informed that the Slates drew 5-5 with The Patriots.

If this is correct, then a huge well done to the Bloodhounds for surviving another season in Div 1. It's not been easy going with 5 players for the last 6 weeks, so it's a credit to all the guys for showing commitment, determination and even some good pool at times. Grin

Just a thought from the Pond-Cuemasters game that never was. Who gets the individual games? What would have happened if there were players from either side chasing singles, rankings or secretaries honours?

Maybe the fact that neither of these came into effect, made the cancelling of the game easier. Either way I think there is a lot to be discussed at the next AGM.
Any thoughts?

I think you are correct dot com Hot Shots second.

Longshanks can't take full credit as I predicted the Jolly would go down with the Pond and Legion at the start of the season but credit to the Jolly.

But yeah I predicted the final placings 6 weeks back so will take some credit

And for the record predicted the Cuemasters would finish above the eden when they were ten points back.

As for the 0-0 I would say it was a top sporting jesture if the Cuemasters gave a 0-0 as they could have finished one spot above where they ended up. Anyhoop I would say as the match did not go ahead a 0-0 was the fair thing to do. I personally thought it was a real shame as the last game of the season is ofter the chance to relax and have an enjoyable few pints but it wasn't meant to be.

Just to clear this up. It was agreed between Pat, me and Mark Halsey that the game would be void. The result of the match would have no bearing on any of the final places in the division and no player on either side was in contention for any of the rankings trophies, otherwise the match would have gone ahead. If we had claimed the walkover win then the Pond would have fallen foul of Rule 44, "Any team who fails to arrive and play in any one match during the season will be deemed as a New Team for the following season." They couldn't field a team and neither side was inclined to rearrange it due to it being a dead game.

Ithink that is basic common sense no point in playing a dead game if it has no bearing on the league

Will miss London Snooker, especially for thier away venue which was especially good, but the nature of the beast means we have to say goodbye.

AWESOME effort by the Bloodhounds to retain their place at the top table, they looked gone but showed fight and charactrr to stay up.

Forum A and the Warbank coming up add two spicy away venues into the mix next year, and they're both excellent sides to boot, looking forward to it already.

I must admit i did find it a bit weird as the Pond could have stayed up last night. Stranger things have happened than a 9-1 win for the Pond vs Cuemasters and a 10-0 defeat for the hounds against the Patriots!

It was not a totally dead game but that is Pats choice. to be fair almost impossible with the key word being almost.

good standard match aganist the eden last night table played really well i thought,it does make u wonder about the eden they are without doudt have a top 4 team in terms of players now no doudt, so its hard to c why they eneded up down the table the team spirt is they for sure, i for one dont see any harm in being vocal in a match but maybe outher teams try alot harder against the eden beacause of this, hotshots have always let the table do the talking but i would say that!!

Aren't next season's league cup seedings based upon finished league positions of teams from the previous season? No match played last night will have a bearing on those seedings. I'm sure no one really cares especially, but worth a mention especially if you get caught up in in Groups 2 & 4 next season.....
