Also note that reserves currently include Tony Bailey, John Hersey and Mark Miller.

The Surrey Open saw 5 reserves getting a place in the 1st Round, and I already know of at least 2 in the Draw that won't be there on the 28th.

If you turn up, you may get a start, there is a ?1000 prize fund, and all monies in from Reserves goes towards a subsidised Plate KO Event in the afternoon.

Spud v Bluey should be a cracker.

But Spud is playing Martin Lambert . . ?

It's a Spud fest !!!!

Spud Senior, Mr. Halligan will have to be at his best just to get out of his group! It's ferociousley difficult.

If he negotiates Bluey, he'll more than likely play Harvey (A serial 147 merchant at Snooker and on the verge of turning pro)
If he then negotiates Harvey, he'll more than likely be playing Frank Strivens!!!!

Group of death is an understatement.

Evans, Cliff and Rod fighting it out in the other group of death. . . .

Top Half - Section 3
-------------------------------------------
Cliff Mills vs Danny Taggart - Start time11:00
Lee Hudson vs Danny Evans - Start time11:45
Matt Cooke vs Rod Altes - Start time12:30
Richard Teasdale vs Nick Booth - Start time12:30

There's not a bad player in there!!!!

No match in the entire draw comes close to Cooke v Altes

Fair point - I missed that one.

Wouldn't even ATTEMPT to predict the winner of that match.

Cookie was apparently on unstoppable form in Yarmouth, until he got stopped, that is. It all depends on their mindset on the day I suppose. Rod does tend to have a falling bottom problem in big matches . . . I guess only the afternoon of the 28th will tell . . .

Just noticed that Ian Clarke was previously down as playing Dan Barthrop, that was my mistake, Ian is in fact playing Cliff Eastwood.

There was a thread, which no doubt is on the old site, which directed people to the Surrey site to enter the competition. It was a 64 player comp and all places were reserved in 3ish days. I believe you can still put your name as a reserve or turn up for that matter, as any no shows, will result in reserves being entered, and more money into the various prize funds for the day.

Harry, there are a few reserve places available, as I know a few people that have other plans and now won't make it. If you want a place and will defo be there, consider yourself in the Comp.

Will also be a ?5 KO Plate with subsidised prize fund in the afternoon, for early casualties and anyone else that wants to enter.

I am 95% sure I will be there.

I will turn up and take my chance.

If I don't get in, I can always have a beer or 6 and enjoy the matches :drunk:

Harry, I can provisionally guarantee you a starting place in the 64, please phone me on 07939 115981 on Sunday morning to confirm your attendance, and to secure your spot.

Phil Wates also provisionally allocated a Reserve place this morning.

I believe there are 2 further reserve places available for a place in the starting 64. First come first served.

This was won on Sunday by Rod Altes, who also won it in 2006.

There were also 6 past or present Drillers in the Comp!

Apparently the last time so many Drillers were seen together in the same venue was September 1998 ;)
