From the EPA site . . .

C of C & Ladies K/O Cup 2nd & 3rd February Yarmouth.
Accommodation will be available on the Thursday night for those that have booked it.

The Tournament Director, Alan Benton is prepared to accept additional entries to the Ladies National Singles. (limited numbers, first come first served)

Time table of events will be exactly as published for November 2007.

All accommodation bookings will be honoured, any teams or individuals that wish to withdraw will be given full accommodation refunds.

Any new teams brought in to replace teams that may withdraw will be charged the 2007 accommodation rate of ?37.50 (?32 juniors)

The Tournament Director, Alan Benton will be writing to all entrants to offer them the alternative dates, He will be supplying self addressed, stamped envelopes to all entrants to take away any excuses to not replying. He will assume anyone that doesn't respond by he deadline date is attending, at this point the refund offer will be withdrawn.

Just seen this on the EPA site. Maybe it's all off again???

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

FURTHER DETAILS TO BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY

That's the EPA for you . .

I heard that the new proposed dates, clashed with a ladies tour, and as this was ladies nationals, and ladies interleague perhaps it would be advantagous if they could actually be there.

There are 50 odd players on the ladies tour. Surely it makes more sense to move that?

Posted by Golden on 21-11-2007 01:12

Or better still cancel the ladies event altogether . . It's a poor state of affairs when they're rescheduling one of the biggest events of the year to accomodate women

Oh it gets better. New dates are 15th, 16th and 17th February. Sound familiar???

Posted by Lils on 21-11-2007 08:09

That sounds about right, but it won't affect the majority of the Croydon players involved in the Open, so it's not all bad.

Posted by Sass on 21-11-2007 08:41
#9

It will affect several who have already paid their money.

I will speak with Danny and Hannah and we can decide what's the best option. If our date remains the same then those affected will receive a refund.

That's a silly weekend to rearrange it to as doesn't it then clash with Jersey?

Posted by Sass on 21-11-2007 18:38
#11

Yes it does. It's fekking stupid.

I'm happy to leave it as it is as I won't be going to Yarmouth now as they've moved the Ladies KO to the Friday. The other people affected are the Clarkes, Michael Brown, Sean Halligan, Rod Altes and Sarah King. So far just the Clarkes and Sarah have paid their entry.

There may be others but that's all I can think of.

Are there no other dates seeing all the Hotshots players you have mentioned have supported this comp in the past?

Posted by Golden on 21-11-2007 18:57
#13

I think it comes down to whether or not the competition should be rescheduled for 5 people out of the 64 . . I understand where you are coming from but that equates to just under 8% of the . . In addition, only 2 of those 5 have paid so far . .

Posted by Sass on 21-11-2007 18:59
#14

Well there is little point in the paying right now . . . !

Posted by Golden on 21-11-2007 19:05
#15

But up until today this all wasn't to be known so it just shows the importance of paying early :D

Looks like you want an easier field as usual Dan :chicken:

Posted by Sass on 21-11-2007 19:13
#17

Can you explain the logic in that argument? 2 out of 5 Hot Shots have paid - that's a 40% payment rate. The overall payment rate is just 34%.
Are Hotshots supposed to predict these things?:?:

Seriously though Sean helped me big time in running the thing last year - I think it's reasonable to have a look at the calendar and see if there is an alternative date.

Crack on Sass . . You know best . . I may not be Carol Vorderman but my point remains the same . .

Posted by Shaggy on 21-11-2007 19:27

My theory is that their is no time in the calendar, and thats why when comp dates change, they always affect someone, whether it be an officaial EPA event, or in this instance more local comps.

You are the organiser so can pretty much do what you like, but I am sure people that have factored in this date will be equally peeved if they cannot play due to it being rescheduled.

it also means the current croydon champion cant play either:cry:

The comp is over subscribed at present anyway so it will still be a maximum field.

But I will be there Ian! ;)

Shaggy's point is valid and if it wasn't for the fact the Hotshots team have always supported the comps I've been involved in running I wouldn't even be entertaining the idea of moving this one. I also think that the comp without the last years runner up, the current Winter and Summer champions :blah: etc etc would be devalued and at the end of the day it is through no fault of their own that the find themselves unable to attend.

Chances are there won't be a suitable date available anyway but there is no harm in looking.

Posted by Golden on 21-11-2007 19:53
#24

But equally it's not the 59 other players faults that the HotShots are attending an event that has had it's date moved . . Also there are two previous Open Winners that are not able to attend at present because of the format yet that's just the way it is . .

I agree that it's unfortunate that the Hot Shots would miss out by this recent date change but does that warrant the Open being moved everytime a small number of people can't attend?

Posted by Sass on 21-11-2007 19:59

If they had all paid fair enough. They haven't though. A different date might actually produce more entries . . .

Posted by Shaggy on 21-11-2007 20:03
#26

Given all the kerfuffle with the Champion of Champions, it would not suprise me if the Eagles were invited to the C of C if their are enough team drop outs. Personally I wouldnt expected it to change on our behalf, especially if the numbers to run the comp still stack up.

Posted by Lils on 21-11-2007 20:06

Surely Hannah should be the person spoken to about a change of date before even speaking about it on the website?

And what happens if you change the date and you get fewer entries? Do you move the date again?

The only thing that should matter is having the comp filled.

It wasn't that long ago people were trying to get the Presentation Night changed to cater for a handful of people who couldn't make it. . .

I don't think you should read into the paid entries too much, there is still 3 months till the comp.

You'll be fully paid.

I think you'll find I've said earlier in this thread that I will speak to Hannah. I've responded to the issue as it was raised.

There's no point in talking to anybody till I checked the calendar which I have now done given all the interest.

Allowing for my own commitments and working round the pool calendar the next available date would be the 15th March. My view is that we've already started to taking money for this and to be holding on to it that long is ridiculous. While it's unfortunate that the Hotshots will miss out the original date should stand.

I'll put on another comp later in the year.

You're the one stating to all on the website to 'stick the comp'. And I thought you and Sass were friends; not very nice to speak to the Tournament Organiser that way.

Just out of interest though, is EVERYTHING meant to revolve around your team? You do have the choice not to go to Champion of Champions after all . . . You should consider yourself lucky that you're such a fantastic player and have that choice . . .

Yes Sean . . You're right once again . . Yet another well thought out response . .

. . as usual it's about who you know rather than what you know so I am sure you'll get what you want . .

No Danny you have got what you want, Sass is saying she is not changing the event:clap: The real reason you dont want to even concider changing it is because you dont like mixing it with players better than yourself. You have a recent history of entering comps with good players in it and pulling out at the last minute. I have no idea why Sarah is helping you run this comp all you do is knock everything she says on here both of you. Why are you so nice face to face with people when all you do is dig on here. Im not going to get in a long running argument with you both on here again. Do as you will with the comp im really not bothered.

I believe Sass chose to run this comp herself after Danny wasn't interested in running it. Danny still has nothing to do with it other than being asked to accept paypal payments which Sass is now doing.

As for 'both of you', I'm not involved in the running of this site or the running of these comps. When I run comps at Rileys, I do it as a thank you for Hannah and not to get free drinks and payment from it. . .

I think if the comp goes ahead on Feb 16th it will be considerably devalued .... because I won't be in it.

Posted by Golden on 21-11-2007 21:29

You're right Sean as always . . You're that right that you didn't even know that it's Sarah's comp and I was helping her run it, not the other way around . . Would have thought you;d have known that . .

The difference is I play pool for fun and not for a living so I can take it or leave it when something better comes along . .

Pick out where I have had a 'dig' Sean . . I have constructed a logical explanation for why the competition shouldn't be moved, albeit with my maths slightly out . . Your response was "Stick your comp" . . Hmmm . .

As well as paying Hannah, Sass or Danny, a new paypal account has been set up. Please feel free to drop your hard earned ?15 into the following account.

RedDeerEaglesOpen...paypal.com

Always thinking about the users this site, the money goes directly to the winners, without the need for additional travel expenses.
