Tonight at Rileys, see's The Patriots -v- The Propeller, which will decide where the first silverware of the year ends up and is a dress rehearsal for their League Cup QF encounter next week.
No Jacko available, I am presuming, for the The Patriots, but they will have ex-Prop boys in their line up in Graham Thompson and Rob Gater. After getting beaten in last season's summer equivalent, the Patriots are still searching for their first silverware. The Prop must start strong favourites, and have the in form Mark Miller, the Pope boys and ex-Patriots player Paul Adams to lead the charge. The Prop have gone without a Croydon winter title since early 2005, but surely Colonel Maguire will steer them to yet another Knockout Cup title?
My prediction is the opening four frames shared but the Prop then to run out 4-2 winners...

probably 4-2 to the prop is a favourite scoreline, jackson missing is a serious blow so a lot will depend on richards, gator and thomson getting wins but man for man the prop are stronger so got to go with them.

I have a feeling it will be a lot closer than some think . . Admittedly Jacko missing is a massive blow to the Patriots but they have more than enough and are fairly solid throughout to make up for the lack of 'big guns' . . I also hear Leon might be missing tonight which changes things somewhat . .
Mark Miller to win the decider @ 3-3 . .

Two mediocre sides in the KO Final. It'll probably be rubbish.

I would like to distance myself from my team-mates comments I think the Prop and the Patriots are quality sides, and we are playing the patriots last game of the season so we don't want them hating us:)

The Patriots came away as worthy winners with a 4-2 scoreline.
The Prop threw away a few frames, but that's 1 frame pool for you. Swettenham pulled out a nice dish from Herseys break at 3-1 down to save the match, but the Patriots did the job by mopping up after the Props mistakes.
Congrats Patriots :winner:, commiserations Prop. :two:

Pretty sick black from Gaters to put The Patriots 3-1 up and a very nice dish from Allan Goodall to win the match . .
Makes amends for the Summer KO Final loss and wins the first cup honours for The Patriots to the best of my knowledge?

Really pleased for Allan Goodall who took out a tidy finish to win the match . .

First major cup honours, think they won the 2nd Division about 5 years ago as the Brewers Victory. Only a few of them these days left from the original side when they were the Copperfield then the Brewers.
Pulled off a few houdini acts the last two years to keep themselves in Div 1, so well done, the stuck at it, signed some new blood and it's healthy to see a new name on the old tin pot.
Really pleased for the likes of Dave Glen, Paul Richards and Alan Goodall, who have been the backbone of the side for years.
Commiserations to the Prop. You can pay 'em back next Monday. ;)

Over distance The Prop will win 8 or 9 out of 10 encounters but that's the beauty of the KO Cup format . .

Prop started favourites last night despite the format. I am guessing the Patriots will fancy their chances now next week, but I'll still go for the Prop to pull through.
