SAS vs Hostshots 2-5
Beleive SAS will steal a couple, especially now they have some new faces.
Rack Pack vs Bloodhounds 5-2
I think the stronger team will no doubt show with this outcome being the more experienced set of players.
Unpreds vs Eagles 3-4
Let's face it, we're doing shit this season and Eagles are way stronger than us atm. But we have the players to be able to get a few points off them.
Prop vs Eden 4-3
I think this will be a close game and may even be 4-3 to other side.
Coney Cus vs Cue Masters 3-4
Don't know much about either teams here, just going by thier positions in the league. :P

We've lost the last two weeks I've predicted these, so I will be cautious!
SAS 1 - 6 Hot Shots
Presuming everyone travels up to Purley Way, this will be a comfortable win for the Shots! I think the SAS should nick one though.
Rack Pack - Bloodhounds
I think I'm going to sit on the fence with this one. All I will say is that we have managed to put together our strongest 7 of the season for tonight, so we are taking this seriously!
Unpredictables 2 - 5 Red Deer Eagles
Once again the Unpredictables are more than capable of winning games like these. But we've been saying this all season. Maybe they'll get three games but the eagles should win this!!
Propellor 3 - 4 Farley Eden
The Eden are full of confidence and playing some good stuff. We took the Prop to a decider two weeks ago, and have a feeling the Eden will take this one!
Patriots - Bye
Cuemasters 5 - 2 Coney Cues
If the Cuemasters can put a team out then this should be a comfortable win. Their table is tricky to play on and I don't think the Coney travel too well. What do you think Donna??

Last night we were told the Coney couldn't field a team so the game would be postponed. Today I'm told they can now get a team together but some of us may have made oher arangements, including me.

In fairness I just spoke to Andy on the phone saying we were happy to re-schedule still because we did not want to mess you around. The general consensus was to get it out of the way so we have got a team together that includes me travelling 120miles and a player playing unwell.
The last thing I would want is to be accused of manipulating the situation so the offer to re-schedule is still open but please let me know asap because I have just sent and received emails confirming people's availability...

I'm not accusing you of manipulation, well only as a joke. Frankly I don't think it matters a great deal to either side and getting it out of the way is probably the best bet.

Its a sad statement to have to make but we should not detract from the facts here. It is the highlight of the Poney season to finish above the Eden, so maybe this match is not meaningless to them.

Yep - but I never gave it large beforehand about beating him . . . And my sphincter remained intact throughout the whole match.
Eden 4 - Coney 3 (do you see what I did there?)
And why DO your players play for free at Rileys when your home venue is the 'Theatre of Dreams'?

Anyone can beat anyone over 1 frame of pool. However, after getting beaten over 12 frames of pool I can only presume that only you can tell us how your splichter feels.....
As for Rileys, not sure we realised we had you to thank for the free tables. As for the Theatre of Dreams, we play our home matches there, practice there, and we will continue to do so for many years to come but I am sure you all ready knew all of that...

Hmmm - if you tell me where my 'splichter' is, i'll tell you how it feels.
Secondly, I never asked for thanks for free tables; I don't work for or run a pub or I'd be in a position to offer you that luxury as Hannah does to her home teams. I simply enquired as to why members of your team tend to spend a lot of time practicing there instead of the warmth and safety of your own home venue.
Lastly, you keep offering money matches, but believe your 'splichter' once again went walkies after I accepted your challenge. Does this now mean that you'll be interested in playing me for money now or are you still too scared to play someone who lost to Paul Saxton over 12 frames?

My predictions for this week:
Match of the night: Rack Pack v Bloodhounds
Rack Pack have to win this, simple as that. Games are running out for the Rack Pack and its now or never. Despite the Hounds resurgence of late, my money is on Harry's team to win 4-3.
SAS 1-6 Hot Shots
1st win of the season from the SAS last week, they will not make it two from two tonight.
Unpreds 4-3 Eagles
I am going to predict a win for the Unpreds. They have the players to beat most sides and the Eagles return trip to Thornton Heath in two nights will end with another defeat. Saying that, they will probably go and win 7 zip now.
Propeller 3-4 Eden
Great couple of months for the Eden, confident and ready to keep the momentum going. Never easy against the Prop who have turned us over so many times in the last 4 years or so.
Cuemasters 5-2 Coney
You have to love the Poney's new agenda for assuring survival. Cancel the game the day before then try and rearrange it at 10am on the day of the game. Quality plan. The Cuemasters don't give a toss and will turn up with 5 and still win.

Rack Pack 4-3 Bloodhounds
Harrys team to squeak out a victory. Bloodhounds have done magnificently to get back to this stage, but the Rack Pack can't go down.
SAS 0-7 Hot Shots
Back to form for both teams this evening.
Unpreds 1-6 Eagles
Eagles to come out strong in this match. Mick O'D to win the only frame!
Propeller 5-2 Eden
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. (Grrrr - pssssshhhhhhhhhhhh)
Cuemasters 3-4 Coney
Both teams playing with weak sides. Awful table, middle of nowhere . . Should suit the Poney Coney to a T!!

MMMMEEEEOOOWWWW SCRATCH MY BACK. QUAKING!. dont think leveling the table will stop the unpredictable cushion bounce some how? but then surely if the table is moved for any event that is taken place it should be checked and levelled once it is returned? (when i worked in a pub that was the normal) evn tho we dont pay for our games(which we appreciate) i think other people who use the table(outside tuesdays) are entitled to play on a straight rolling table. as for the drinking issue, being that everyone drives or get up early i hardly think anyone can go to overboard on a tues eh! and yes the summer we will be playing down the elmer lodge after that who knows but i would miss having to put my chin on a table to eyeing up my pot allowing for numerous breaks on the way to hopefully potting a black in the middle pocket. it really is like golf :elol:

Without not trying to sound too negative, I believe that we will now be relegated. We had 2 key players out last night, which didn't help our cause. But at the end of the day, had we had peformed better during the whole season, we would not be in this position now.
It is such a shame, because I love playing 1st Division, and I love the guys who play in it (I hope that doesn't sound too gay!)
We will be determined to bounce basck as soon as possible.
As for Rocket.......No comment!!!!

Rack Pack 3 - 4 Bloodhounds
This was a really important result for us last night. Every frame was tight and we could easily have won the last one but for an unfortunate in-off!!
It was quite surreal reffing the final game involving 'The Rocket'. He certainly keeps you on your toes. Did feel sorry for Harry though because that was not the time for a trick shot! You should have greater respect for your team and captain! (Jeez I sound like I should be on Oprah:bored:)

Harry,as you like playing in the 1st division so much, could you not consider joining the Eden. They're a nice bunch of quiet, unassuming gentlemen. I'm sure that they would welcome you ! Mark Bannister would be delighted as they wouldn't need to pinch any more of his players !!

Pat, you really must try and get a life. Your infactuation with the Eden is becoming a tad worrying. I think the only thing we can say about pinching players is we won't ever have the desire to look at tapping up your second rate bunch of choppers.....
Propeller 4-3 Farley Eden:
Heard we went 3-1 up to lose the last three of the night. We let Adam ''Eden Till I Die'' Hewson win his first league game of the season to avoid Paul Maguire torturing him in the car-park. Our form these past six weeks has been awesome despite dropping the last three frames and the big positive was Scott Lansing's dream is still alive. All the pressure is on Daniel Evans & Hugh Telford to keep winning....

Given that the Coney may not have a team the RRP must have some hope.

The table has been a disgrace since Ted stopped looking after it. I don't think it's the responsibility of the team to level it or keep it in good nick, I think that's for the management to sort out.

Last night was surreal in many ways . .
4 out of the 5 Division One fixtures were played no more than 20 yards apart last night . .
Rocket was superb last night . . One of my favourite pool moments of all time . . Playing the black whilst looking at someone in the crowd when your team needs every point to stay up is pure comedy . .
The entire light fitting falling out of the ceiling just after I put Graf in a frame winning snooker was bizarre to say the least . .
Ollie getting Francois' hopes up only to break his heart coming out of a snooker dead weight to pot his last ball and land on the black was pretty average ;)

I didn't see the black as I wasn't on Eden duty last night, but I have certainly heard about it. We had the Prop on the hill last night for the first time in a long while and that's the positive we'll take from the defeat plus the fact we are back competing with the likes of you, Prop and Hot Shots.
Team wise, we were considering our options and the problem for a while had been squad numbers as there was no competition for places which made us all lazy. Thats resolved now so we'll stick around for a while longer. I have Liam 'Jimmy the Dish' Connors back in the summer from a season's layoff that gives us 10 regular players.

Can't beleive what I've heard this morning about the Rocket's shot. Its shocking but I guess that's what makes him so special to this league...
Harry, you can beat the Hot Shots next week (well actually you have to!), Unpreds lose to the Bloodhounds. Its still there, its still in your hands so don't throw the towel in yet.

For those who weren't lucky enough to witness Rocket's exploits last night, here's what happened . .
Picture the scene . . The Rack Pack are 4-2 down and have just lost the precious bonus points against their main relegation rivals, the Bloodhounds.
Peter 'The Rocket' Esseku is picked again @ #7 . . Dishes but misses the black . . A few shots later and attempting to get out of a snooker, Rocket lines up the angle and accidentally swipes one of his opponents balls with his cue to which we all roll with laughter . . Rocket surprisingly finds this amusing . .
His opponent then somehow manages to go inoff with Rocket's black pretty much over the pocket and gifts him the win . . Rocket gives us a little wink and says to me "I'm going to look at you when I pot this" . . We egg him on to do it saying that he hasn't got the nuts to do something so stupid . . Low and behold Rocket cues up the black, turns to the crown, cues the black and rattles it!
At this point we're in absolute tears of laughter while Harry is screaming, frothing at the mouth and pacing Rileys in a fit of rage. Incidentally, Rocket is still laughing at this point as well as the Bloodhounds, including Rocket's opponent who is on the receiving end of this . .
Luckily for Rocket, the black stays in the jaws, Harry screams a bit more and Rocket rolls in the black to rescue what might be a priceless point come the end of the season.
I feel for Harry as it can't have been a healthy 10 seconds for him but it was one of the single most funny moments I've ever witnessed in the league and shows that regardless of the situation, standard and environment, pool can be a funny ol' game ;)
Rocket . . We salute you!

It's been an entertaining and worthwhile journey. I have really enjoyed playing against some great players and can take some personal satisfaction from it. I won't be playing next year and i really hope that The Coney can continue. I will say this now, but i am not quitting forever as i'm sure one day Alex will need to dip into the transfer market. And as long as i have a PC i can always send him the messages he craves.

In all seriousness, I really hope you pull together and keep it going, maybe a merger is what is required and I think once upon a time the Cuemasters were making similar noises, certainly would have a great team if that ever happened. I know the 6 previous battles have taken its toll on our previous good relationship but thats sport, we are both to blame as we are too competitive for our own good. If the end for the original Coney comes in three weeks time then it will be a sad day for the Croydon Pool League and I'll say it...a sad day for the Eden.
Good thing is Pondlife seems to have taken quite a fancy to the Eden these days so we'll not be short of finding the next grudge fixture....

well who knows alex the coney cuemasters certainly has a good ring about it.! and i belive luke davis will be playing for us during the summer, and speaking to rob spry last night he seems interested in carrying on pool at some time! definately think there will be changes next winter season as again we have struggled with numbers due to players family and work commitments but considering were only 3 points off 4th spot we are delighted, i think the whole division will be sad to see the coney fold as i said previously they are a credit to the league and when at full strength have a very good team. its very rare in the league now that you get a team full of players who have been mates for many years and still carry on a tuesday night tradition, always found them a friendly bunch who always play with a high level of sportsmanship and competitiveness. the eden v coney matches have been classics of which will probably never be witnessed again maybe not classics in respect of the quality but certainly the banter and rivalary is unmatched and its nice to hear alex appreciating this despite all the war of words from past battles.

Alex, how lovely that my humble team could be earmarked for your future vitriolic comments. We look forward to renewing our rivalry in the not too distant future. The prospect of becoming your Coney replacements has a great deal of appeal !! Perhaps we might even emulate their past performances by handing out Eden thrashings on a regular basis !!

How did Millers black go in yesterday?? I still can see how it dropped. There was about 10 players from other teams watching him hit the black and it was missing by miles as soon as he hit it. There must have been 2 acts of God at Rileys last night, one of them was the lights falling down on Danny's game and the other was God's invisible hand pushing Millers black in.
We should have won both frames 5 and 6 so it should not have even mattered. Very dissapointing considering how well we have been playing.
I cant believe the Coney will fold, its like someone who keeps saying they are going to do themselves in, but never actually do it. I think they need to either fold (which is never going to happen) or keep quiet. I know for a fact that they have had extra players at some games and have chosen to play players who are not turning up regularly but more friends with the management. This is why they struggle as when those "friends" dont turn up the other players are f**cked off so dont bother either.

In terms of what is left of the Coney, I know Luke will fit in well at the Cuemasters this summer. He really is a quality player and will fit in well to the dynamic of that team. I for one would love to look in a year or two and see the cuemasters mounting a serious title challenge. They are definitely capable. If Mr Spry is on the market then he will also become a valuable asset to any team in the league, no question (imo).
Cheers for the post Alex, I can only really speak from a personal perspective and say (unless I change jobs) I will definitely not be playing. I think Berty is the same and Merv's commute is not really sustainable. Rhys (legend) may well be moving away and Mat Ansel has already. Whatever the outcome, it has been emotional :fish:

I always mean what I say James so I sincerely hope you keep afloat. This league needs teams like the Coney, crap as you are, but pure value for money and one day just one day you may shut me up and win something. Certainly have the players to do it maybe not the belief against the big boys but you have the experience now. Eg. Ansell - poo at the best of times. This season against us he showed how much he had improved and was awesome on both occasions. Spry - terribly overrated of course! Got dished by Dave at your gaff and then showed massive character to return the compliment at our place. You loosing to my Dad in the first game was priceless but then again you have a trump card up your sleeve in the form of Saxton. The rivalry with Berty, the money match which I won but regret in a way for doing so as the only winner was Matt. You signing our Eden girl but alas she never made the last match, and we'll have to save the whistles to another time, or not.....
One last thing, your old man Merv will remain a Croydon legend, a true gentlemen regardless of whether he is holding a pool cue. Massive respect to him from travelling from Dorset each week.He told me the other week at our match that he was driving 4 hours to make a match on a Tuesday but recently he has commuted by train into London and back down to Beckenham. That is commitment for the Coney. And he has been doing that for regularly for years. Makes my weekly sabatical from Essex seem like nothing. For that alone you owe him, plus of course Luke for setting the team up and dumping his bird in South Africa to return home to play pool again, Berty for donating two hundred and fifty squiddlies in June 2007 to such a worthwhile cause, yourself naturally for calling Scott a cunt (that was quality!), Ansell (bleeds Eden) for playing like a twat for 4 matches and then playing like Reyes for the last two. Spry for being poo and leaving every match within 5 seconds of the black dropping. Dippy for nodding and acknowledging every round of applause he gets for potting a ball. Rhys for being a part time serial killer and working undercover for Osama Bin Laden in his lunchhour, plus being so horrible by talking to us when we have played you, plus for pushing Adam out the Elmer door. Saxton? Well you keep that memory. unplanned but as always totally off the cuff. Aha......lets us not forget the boy who turned up with his cue in a brown cardboard tube and we thought how sad, but he beat your newest recruit aka Coney Poney Donna! Richard Lambert, I believe, was his name. A memorable moment, wasn't then, but sadly it is now.....
Kicking it all in is the easy out.
But thanks for the memories...(i'll let you do the violin bit)

I see all the eden are back on form after their humiliation the other week we were all worried about you for a while.
we will see if we fold or not but my feeling is when we say we will fold we will fold unlike of course the eden soul sellers who will kill their granny to steal players from unsuspecting lower division teams to continue. This of course usually happens after a defeat such is the fragile nature of the eden clan.
enjoy guys I would rather eat from the bottom of glastonbury toilet than be associated with the eden but that is just my humbled poney opinion.
we won nothing but I say this will absolute sincerity .............bothered!

What humiliating defeat was that - your 7 zip against the Ego's or 5-2 against the cuemasters 5 :haha:
As i have said well played for beating us mate - but you really should try to play out till the end of the season or just leave now & then no more
your siging of Donna & Saxton, Sure they played for a lower Div team ? - Surely only the Eden do that don't they - So we do it & it is out of order & you do it - Guess it is only helping the needy anyway so it don't really count eh fella
If you weren't bothered you wouldn't have posted son...
And as for us folding we would have except for signing
Steve Field - He was not at another team
Rab Harkness & Barry Watkins - Wanted to play Div 1 & we provide them a platform
And finally Liam Connors will return
So unlike the last 2 season's when we had 5's & 6's including Pedro - We now have a team that we consider worth keeping with, i guess you now realise what that feels like as you are now bowing out because the logistics just don't add up
In closing mate - Don't be bitter that you didn't make the last magical time you chaps beat us - If you did the result would have probably been 4-3 to us :bite:
Cheers for the memories & good luck with those toilets at glastonbury

Steve, i can't quite see how you can liken The Coney folding to someone threatening to commit suicide. We have never said before that we are going to fold, but many of us now have other commitments to make that has forced some of us into making a decision that unfotunately has a huge bearing on whether The Coney can continue.
At least Alex has had the decency to thank us for the rivalry and competition that we have provided for the last 3 seasons.

Bloody hell, I don't know where to start. Thanks for the comments Alex. The Eden v Coney rivalry has been a massive part of our enjoyment in this league.
As it stands at the moment, I am pretty sure there will be no Coney next season. The harsh reality is that too many of us are finding it a struggle mainly due to travel or work commitments. I contemplated trying to find some talented young players who had Div 1 potential but can't really see the point. The Coney for me will always be remembered for the core of us that started off in Div 6 and worked our way up through the divisions. Yeah, we picked up some people on the way and in alex's defence I have done some lower division poaching of my own through the years and even ditched two of my school mates who I knew would not cut it as we got closer to Div 1.
The fact is that Merv can't keep coming from Dorset for all of the league games, Rhys won't be able to play once he moves to Milton Keynes, James shouldn't really make any games at all but does out of commitment to the Coney cause, Ansell is moving away. That only really leaves myself, Saxton and Dips as regulars so need to sign too many players to justify carrying on. I'll never say never but I'm looking forward to playing for the Cuemasters in the Summer and if that goes well I would be hoping to stay with them for the Winter.
It's been one hell of a journey and we are all much better players as a result but times change and it feels like the right time to call it a day.

Nutty one - you have me at a loss as i dont know who you are but my comment was more like cry wolf than the way you have taken it. Half of the boards on this site are filled with "the coney are going to fold.." and i just think its all a bit silly now. If you do actually fold then of course it will be a bad loss for the league but i have heard it 100 times.
Berty - I find your comments about the Eden quite strange given that we gave you your first chance in Div 1 when you played a season for us and gained the name "The Desintegrator" due to your pooper falling out each week. Luke also played for us and he won quite a few games. Donna was a very useful player for us so that makes nearly half the Coney team.
You only need 5 players in the summer so you only really need to sign 1 or 2, maybe Alex could give you some tips on player poaching, i hear he is writing a book on it lol
I mean come to think of it there are only a couple of your team we dont actually like ;-)
After beating the Ego's twice on the bounc and the Hotshots for 2 seasons running maybe we should replace the coney rivalry with a good team ;-)

And there lies the reason why we have outperformed you for two seasons despite arguably having the weaker team. The Coney gets the best out of it's players. That particular player would be second in your most wins this season.
The one thing I do agree on that this coverage of the Coney must be very boring for an outsider.. Time will tell what happens.

Have never denied I am toilet and I dont recall ever claiming otherwise but playing for a team I actually enjoy playing with I guess has allowed me to play at a decent enough level which has shown in some respectable end of season stats. For the coney however individual stats have never been important.
anyway I take back the glastonbury toilet comment there was no need for it for one I just have not got the will to continue the argument and two I dont reallyu have a problem with them still. It looks like with the pond and legion coming up next season will provide at least 4 games next season with a bit of bite which is good for the neutrals at least.
With 3 games left we ate struggling but unless the Rack Pack can put together two of the performances of their lives it looks like they are doomed rather than us pulling ourselves out of it especially with their loss bye to come.
We still should win two of our last 3 and finish in mid table obscurity and hopefully we can field decent sides.
good luck to all for the remainder it is starting to look like all the final situations have already been decided in division 1 so the remainder may prove a little pointless!

Just for the record, I wasn't playing for any team when I went to try to help the Coney. I was still registered to the Goodfellas, but hadn't been playing for many weeks.
Can't imagine hearing how Mark Stallard was planning on shooting Luke after they de-registered ME . . . . He could have steered his motorbike into him, but knowing Mark, he'd have either missed or fallen off.

:elol: That is funny!
Outperformed -
Lets look at the last game. Spry breaks and dishes. Ansell flukes 2nd to last ball to land on black, Scott has Rhys beaten and for some bizarre reason picks up the white in error, you then get a total of 4 visits in the next 3 games. Saxton flukes his opening shot to put me in a shit position for the next 20 minutes. Fuck me that is outperforming the opposition?
The only game you won fair and square was the 5-2 at the Coney on a table even Torvill & Dean would have mistaken for an ice rink rather than a pool table. One 4-3 win you had at the Farley we only had only 6 players with Pedro pissed and Donna's son helping out. If you recall Pedro missed a straight black in the middle.
In defeat, you have never outperformed the team. If anything, we should have won each of those games by a greater margain.
James, do yourself a favour big boy and keep a lid on it. You are embarrassing yourself and your team.
