I have forgotten, where is the final being played? If it's Riley's, will Jacko be allowed in for one night?

It depends on whether Rilesys sponser this cup. If they do the match will be played at Rileys and Jacko will not be allowed to play.

If they dont sponser it, then I suppose the Paatriots have the right to ask that the match is played elsewhere.

I don't think anyone sponsers this cup

Don't quote me, but I think Riley's sponsership of the league included the two cups. . . However, I could be wrong.... usually am.

Young Nigel so unlucky last night, Hot Shots 3-2 up, Nigel with a finish he could do with his eyes shut, and then. . . . . Mis-Cue. . . .
Why do they always seem to happen when it really matters???

Lose that frame and then Miller edges a tense last frame.

A single mis-cue the difference . . .

Amazing.

Should be a close final, Prop starting ever so slight favourites.
However, the Patriots in thier second final running, and will want to banish the memory of thier summer defeat, so will be very tough to beat.

I will quote you ;)

On the bottom of the Knockout Cup thingy (technical term) It says "THIS COMPETITION IS AVAILABLE FOR SPONSORSHIP"

Weren't the Semi's also played at Rileys last night?

If you click on the Knockout Cup fixtures link on the home page, it clearly states underneath the fixtures that the Knockout Cup is available for sponsorship.

With this in mind and the fact that the rules state that the semi-finals and finals should be played at a neutral venue, the final shouldn't be played at Rileys Imperial Way. Saying that, neither should the Prop v Hot Shots semi.

I don't think that rule has ever been implemented and there is only one guaranteed neutral venue, Frames, no one plays from there.

I would have thought that the sponsorship of league would mean that the finals of all Croydon league comp should be played at the sponsors venue, if not what is the incentive to actually sponsor the league.

I believe when Farley and Frames sponsored the league all finals where played at there venue, so why should it change now, if it does I think it would be very unfair on Riley?s and Hannah after all the work they have put in, especially as it seems it would be done to suit 1 person.

I also am curious about what involves in sponsoring the singles comp. Is this not heading for a conflict between sponsors ?.

there

Totally agree with you there. I am sure Rileys expected their generous league sponsorship to cover all the comps.

Bit of a kick in the teeth for them really.

I dont know all the history behind it but is it totally out of the question, for Tony to be allowed in at 8.29, not allowed to buy a drink or talk to staff, play the first frame, then leave.

It has something to do with the way he behaved towards Rileys staff, but to be honest, I can't remember all the details now......Getting old :(

he pulled a barmaid across the bar by her hair, punched her in the face and stamped on her hand, all the time screaming in her face that he was going to f....ing kill her. he finished off by throwing a bottle and an ash tray at her, the ash tray smashing on her head causing 12 stitches.

I can confirm Jacko is trying to get the final moved. Just a bit confused why he didn't try to to get the semi moved

What's the likelihood of it being changed?

You tell me I think Rileys might want to say something as they pay for our fees anyhow all teams involved in the knockout cup of known semis and final would be played at Rileys :bored:

The final will be staged at Rileys. I sympathise with TJ's situation but nevertheless a comprimise has been found for the Singles KO (should he reach the semi's that is) but team matches will remain as agreed.

I cannot believe that Tony Jackson's situation cannot be resolved by a simple apology and possibly a donation to Hannah's favourite charity. Surely this could be arranged by an independent third-party.The most obvious candidate would be Mr.Swettenham who is,at present attending a course on How to make Friends and Influence People which is being run by a chap called Henk Ten Cate !! Fingers crossed !! :wrong: :fish:

No I don't think it can.

TJ's ban is a matter between him and Rileys and the reasons behind it are not a matter for public debate.

Fair enough, but from an outside perspective it's effecting the integrity of the cup. If a team plays without their best player it will devalue the final. No question.

I can assure you all it's not that simple . . Doesn't the fact that this has been going on for over a year tell you something?

Posted by the flash on 27-02-2008 18:51

The bottom line of all this is that he got himself barred and now he has to deal with the consequences, the fact that his team has reached the cup final has no relevance at all.
