Riley Cuemasters 9-1 For legion

a great result for us last night but in fairness the legion were a bit unlucky and perhaps could have taken 2 maybe 3 frames more to make the score more respectable!

despite the result i didnt think we played that well but so far we have had a real positive start to our season! so happy days.

Shark would have to agree there mate.

The legion certainly did not get the run of the balls last night. Couple that with a few missed chaces from them and we get a great result from a quite average performance.

Scores could easily have been 6-4 or even 5-5.

Unlucky guys but I am still gonna back em to qualify from the group.

That has set us up incredibly well in this group and we will be targeting turning over the Betters Halfs to all but seal the group early after such an emphatic opener against the 2nd best side in the group.

I'm real happy that you have pre-warned me and stated your intentions on the site for all to see. I will certainly post the result for all to see.
Did your result last night that you speak so loud about come about because the Legion could'nt raise a full squad.
Speaking of squads, so far in the opening of this new season I have been playing junior team mates so that they too can learn some experience at this level. But for our walkover against your side I will bring out all my BIG GUNS just to teach you how the job is done so very easily.
At such an early stage in this competition you state that you will back the Legion to qualify. Am I to assume that you are placing yourselves in 3rd place. I sense that you are already having a fear of The Better Halfs by way of you finding fit to mention us in such a simple thing as posting your result.
Just remember that a match consists of 2 halves, your team and my team. The winner would be known has The Better Halfs.
Who are we, who are we, The Better Halfs.

FACTS.
I did'nt hear you mention that you are top of the table at the moment due to the fact that you were the first team in this group to recieve your free 10 points by way of your bye. We have a long way to go before we have ours.
2 Matches into the competion and you have already diffused 2 of those free points by way of us only being 8 points behind you. We will keep on pressing forward to diffuse more and have the pleasure of receiving our free 10 points the week before we meet with you guys.
Thanks for your comments and the warning and we look forward to meeting up with you next year for what I believe will promise to be a real good "SHOW TIME"

Wow someone rattled your cage. Yeah I agree the legion were probably the weakest I have ever seen them and it was a shame to see to be honest. I know little to nothing of your team so can't really comment about you so that is why I have asumed the legion are the second best team in the group, that coupled with the fact they beat you in the opener. Fair play to you if you qualify and there is a long way to go as you say so we shall not count our chickens but 19 out of 20 points aint a bad start!. It really does not bother me where you finish to be honest as long as it is behind us which I think is what will happen...Just an opinion mind.

Berty in reference to your post when we played the legion it should have been a draw or 6-4 to us i would like any legion players to clarify this if any of you come onto the site....? i am not taking anything away from the legion as i have been a croydon player for some time and cross there paths many times before i know as a team what they are capable of....!
and as far as knowing nothing about the better halfs does summer k.o cup finalists mean anything to you?

Fair play mate I am not trying to put your team down at all I just don't know anything about you. Did you change you team name at some point?

At the end of the day you have to base your predictions on something so I based my prediction of the legion going through on the fact they are an established ex division 1 side that beat you in the opener.

When I mentioned turning you over I just meant that we would aim to beat you, if we manage that then considering the other opposition in the group we are going to have to mess up badly to not finish top. By beating the legion 9-1 I basically meant that you are going to have to catch up the 5 point defacit against the legion somewhere along the line to finish above us as we certainly will not look to drop points against the lower sides.

Anyway I hope you get the results together and the last match in the group is a shoot off for top spot

lol i dont think berty meant any dis respects to your team! in fact i know he didnt!
i for one had never heard of the better halves until this summer when you had a very good cup run and congratulations in doing that as its always nice to see teams outside of the top division doin well!

i hear you have marco(5 bellies) angel playing for you now! i hope he is buying you all lots iof drinks!

obviously we know the legion a lot better so when the draw was made naturally we looked upon them as our main threat and probably yourselves next!

you cant take no game for granted against anyone so personally the only game we will be concentrating on is the next one!

and all because of a certain individual.
Look at the amount of posts and views this group has. Guess it's good for our league web site. I think I'm gonna take a trip down to Maccy Dee's now. ( I'm Lovin it .... Get it !!! )
For those who wish to quote grammar, we are The Better Halfs. Go ask the dictionary to give us a space between Half and Halves. Ask for a long time contract because we do exactly what it says on the tin and will last a whole lot longer so we should be there for quite some time. Maybe we should change our name to Ronseal. That sound real good but it does'nt fit between halfs and halvess
Does anyone know where we can buy one of those big timer clocks with dramatic count down sound that they have on Countdown ? I know that there is one in Riley's of Lewisham but it's all quiet there. I'm gonna go ask Riley's where they got it and maybe pick up a little grammar along the way.
Naaaaaaa ... think not, we'll just concentrate on winning the group.

Bit of stupid name if you ask me considering in the final you were far from the better halves. Maybe you should consider changing the team name to SOMETIMES THE BETTER HALVES or even better, OCCASIONALLY THE BETTER HALVES or better still VERY RARELY THE BETTER HALVES....

OMG ... Are we still blabbing on about history !!!!!
History is for the books and something we can all learn from.
Is it have a go at The Better Halfs time again ?
So what would you guys say happened to The Eden when they went 7 - 0 down to us in the semi's at their own venue.
Yes we were beaten up quite badly and we took it gracefully. But I will add that we were beaten up by a team of supreme quality and a team consisting of pure gentlemen.
I guess no one can gubble at that.
Having said that, we managed to reach the final which was an achievement for us and we have a runners up trophy to collect along with divisional winners trophy and a divisional singles trophy.
Where did you guys reach and what do you have to collect ?
And finally, lets not put aside that we were a mere Div 4 team facing a powerful div 1 side with bundles of experience.
Now can we put this subject to bed and concentrate on this new winter League.

Qwery, just to please you I think we'll change our name to The Lesser Halfs has I believe that will better suit your thinking of us.
Yes we have a very very big pond not too far away from Sydenham from which I'm sure you'll catch a very big bite.

As for us going 7 0 down in the semis.. Have all them junkies been throwing there needles in your sydenham pond again :fish: I think it has made you quite delirious with a bad case of memory loss :D:

Lets face it, losing finalists, hardly pat yourself on the back time.Not something even those Croydonpool historians that are amongst us would choose to be acknowledged for remembering.

However, rewind the clocks to Monday night. Knockout Cup pool. Losing to a depleted Eagles side. Thats all we need to know about the Better 'Halfs'......

The Funny thing for me is that I seemed to stem this debate from a comment that was completely neutral in my opinion. I only said I thought the Legion would finish above you in the group and got a barrage of abuse. Quite funny really at least it has injected a bit of life in to what I thought would be a boring league cup group.

Still think we will be safe at the top of the group with a game to spare, thus rendering the final fixture against the BH pointless...........(reel em in)!

I managed to reel you in all the way from egypt remember, the only reason you escaped was because your so small you managed to swim between the holes in my keep net....
