Our game against the Waddon, scheduled for tonight is still 'up in the air'. As far as we're aware its cancelled, apologies to all the other teams in this division, our sec has tried contacting theirs, but if anything changes and we do play, i'll post the score tomorrow like usual.

Following on from sting's post.....a match that could have had a couple more frames in either direction.....not many were cut and dried.....Farron put the cue ball off the table twice on the break - but still won both....

An interesting match, considering the oakies were playing on the next table....lots of ribald comments floating back n forth towards the end....

An enjoyable and sporting night....one unusual sight was yours truly breaking off, then waiting for Barry to play his shot...a full 30 seconds later he said " Still your shot - you potted a red".....I hadn't even seen the ball go down....fair play Barry....I did nominate (lol), and managed to win....must have confused him as much as I did myself...lol

Eden 7-3 Semen sorry ok sailor seamen LOL

Game played in high spirits unlucky to the seamen and in reply to me going off twice on the break after that I played the most consistant with a dish and some good tactical play mention to sting with 14/14 2nd frame wins also a mention to chas who was careless enough to chipthe white off on his penultimate shot. Tut tut. Good banter all night down the farley. Now 5 points clear with maple tree slipping up against the machine that flies. 4 weeks left and we. Travel to viggin hill next week. Love it. Must say the fearne brothers have admitted they like being ars.e jockies fishing your table is SLOW. LOL happy times

The Folly 4-6 Farley Dukes

Good fun evening last night with some good tactical battles and some excellent potting. Well played to the Dukes. Cracking bunch of lads.

Good luck for the rest of the season

I think this is the table so far:

Farley Eden ?A? 85
Maple Tree 80
Oh The Oakie Cokies 78
Farley Dukes 70
The Folly 68
Flying Machine 66 +1
The Waddon Wizards 65 +2
Farley Loyalists 65
The Seamen 53
Beechtree 50 +1

think that makes sense with the postponed games. bit of a poor show postponing two week running wizzards. what was their 'excuse' this week outlaw?

It was very amusing. With the OK's going 6 up, and the Eden at 4-2, their was friendly abuse banging around, then we saw fit to chuck 3 frames away. From what I saw the Seaman had chances in almost every frame, but if you dont take them you get into trouble. Obviously the Eden are strong favourites, but I thought that from the start anyway. The Maple Tree v Eden could be the clincher, but to the same extent it maybe open the door for us!

Our result was fair I would think. We could and maybe should have won the three we lost but that said could easily have lost 3 of the other frames. The Loyalists are a capable side and really should be further up the league.

yep no complaints from us last night! team didnt play badly but just didnt take our chances well enough when we had them! credit to the flying machine tho they played v well last night and on play probably just deserved it.!! special mention also for the qaulity 2 cushion escape to pot the black for the win from there anchor man which even we all aplauded ! was a great shot!

eden strong favourites now and cant really see them having another blip although if th FM play like they did last night they will take frames.

well played again lads

sorry shags but weve already played the maple tree twice, a 5-5 at their place and an 8-2 at home. We only have FM, dukes, folly and beechtree left. Saying that though a couple of 8-2's for your guys or maple tree and a couple of draws for us and it could all change round. Our aim is to have won the league before the final week so we can enjoy it and you lot can take a week off :-)

if you look at the rules, rule 14 states that NO GAME can be postponed...
"14. Under no circumstances can any Team Match/Fixture be subject to Postponement other than if 2 teams from a shared 1 table venue are
drawn at home in the K/O Cup so as not to surrender home advantage. The re-arranged fixture date must be played within 2 weeks of
the original fixture date."

even tho we have postponed it, as is the sporting thing to do (even tho the excuse of not having a driver in the entire team is a bit poor...), surely this coming Tuesday is 2 weeks from the original fixture, so will a walk over be claimed? (note: no contact from waddon at all about rescheduling the game..)

If i've missed something or have got my facts wrong someone please let me know. otherwise if we haven't heard anything by Tuesday we'll have 10-0 thanks.

We had 7 players ready to make the visit to the Waddon. As the game got postponed, we didn't travel. They got a 'makeshift' team together, didnt tell us and have now claimed a walkover against us, which unfortunately for the remainder of the teams we have to play, might mean us not being able to fulfill our obligations as we were unable to make an earlier fixture in the season.

if this is the case then you should of not had to travel all the way to the waddon and you should be rewarded with the walkover win sorry cooky but common sense must prevail mark pantony going round throwing his weight around because he's on the commitee ludicrous

Cheers faz.

apprantly the walkover stands, waddon have the 10-0 vs beechtree.

Yes just to confirm:

The walkover STANDS. Even though Martin Pantony messed about with whether the match was on or off etc, they claimed a walkover because beechtree didn't turn up as beechtree couldn't get hold of Martin to confirm. Just because Martin is on the commitee he seems to be able to think he is above the rules.

I think we can expect sparks to fly at the AGM next Thursday.

This surely clears the way for the Flying machine to claim a walkover aswell.

Beechtree failed to mention a certain missed phone call from Martin. That puts paid to that. Table now reads:

Eden 85
Maple 80
Oakies 78
Wizzards 75 +1
Dukes 70
Folly 68
Flying machine 66+1
Loyalists 65
Seamen 53
Beechtree 50

If flying machine claim their game which I am fairly sure they are in their right to do so they will be 3rd by one point and the excuse of not having drivers to get to a venue well speaks for itself. Now Beechtree have had 2 walkover claimed against them will they be expelled from the rest of season I don't want this to happen but rules are rules and we all are sticklers for rules. What happens then do the rest of the teams get and average score vs beechtree or a 10-0. Very interesting but truely a joke.

Correctly so there was a missed call from Martin on Sat 22/8 but no message. Couldn't get hold of him from then on to confirm whether the call was to confirm postponement or the match was to be played. Have received a email from Mark to confirm that no other punishment will be administered to the beechtree in these circumstances. I'm sure the question of so called voicemail messages will be raised at the AGM.

I'm urging the flying machine to claim a 10 0 walkover now, they are well within there right, they don't have to postpone if they don't want to.....

We were unable to make the Folly away at Faz mentions, due to numbers shortage, but unfortunatley it was only on the night, and Andy, the Folly sec was phoned and advised we'd be unable to make that one, so correctly a walkover win was received by them.

Luckily as our sec Jonesy has stated above, Mark Halsey has confirmed we'll be able to play out the rest of the season. I shall be turning up at the AGM to raise this under Any Other Business in the hope of getting this match played and turning over the walkover against us.

This all sounds like an absolute farce!!!! I would vote for this match to be rescheduled at the very least. Claiming the 10-0 has effectively relegated the Beechtree which is very harsh. :wrong:

I would add that we (The Folly) did claim a walkover against the Beechtree earlier in the season as we got a call at 8:15pm on the night of the match to say they weren't going to be able to make it. In these circumstances I felt claiming the walkover was more acceptable.

See that is an acceptable walkover win.

On the league sheet 2nd page this week it states that the result must be in by the 29th September. What happens if it is not in? Surely it cannot be VOID as they were the ones who postponed on us, under what has already been stated as a poor excuse, and have made no attempt to reshedule it .

folly had the right to claim a walkover waddon didn't it is shambolic unbelieveable display of disregard and lack of respect to the beechtree especially from a pivotal figure in an authority type role really has handled this wrong and still so quiet on the situation

This is seriously rude, unsporting and just low. If I was in the Waddon Wizzards then I would be so embarrassed that I want this game to be played!

If they had a hope of winning the division then I could kind of understand this a little (not condoning though) but they won't walk away with silverware for this, just egg on their faces and rightly so.

They need to make sure that they aren't late for any matches this season- I doubt they will find too much understanding with the teams that they will be playing now.

dogger caution needed. This is exactly what us at the beechtree was trying to avoid. Firstly pantony wanted to rescedule to a different evening, after asking my team we decided we could not get enough of us on any other night than a Tuesday (poker, football etc). I told him this on the phone which he tried his damdest to call me unsporting!!! Then told me he was going to get the match resceduled to the end of the season, after that nothing heard back from him apart from the forementioned missed call on 22/8. After that phone switched off and the other line does not accept incoming calls!!! (fat load of good that is). Remarkably though he was quick enough to call me on Wednesday ranting and raving down the phone that now he has claimed the 10-0 against us!! Not so much the points that we are worried about seeing where we are in the table, but the way that this has happened and aparently leaving a missed call on someones phone constitutes as informing them!!!!

Cheaters never prosper, speak to mark and claim your rightfull win.

I think a key point has been missed here Dogger has stated the league 14 rule that the match must be played within two weeks now as the waddon were the ones who cancelled they must have to appease the away squad now if beechtree say they can't play apart from Tuesdays then at the AGM which I will be going to the walkover can be reversed to the beechtree and if the flying machine claim a walkover that will be 2 walkovers in a season for the waddon. Now beechtree have been assured there's no further punishment for them but for the waddon however if the decision was overturned then a further stipulation would be that the waddon would have to be entered as a new team in the leagues and they would be shuffled down losing their league standing. Complex I know but just and right punishment for their actions .

Agm will be a hoot!

Dogger, option 1) to recind your sporting gesture and claim the match.
Option 2) if the above not allowed then you can either bash them up in the rearranged fixture OR if you decide that you are out of the title race ;), do nothing and the match will be void thus ensuring the waddon recieve nish (as do you mind).

What winds me up is the fact that the rules are being used to suit as technically you CANNOT re-arrange (this rule bent) and the beechtree should be Kicked out (avoided and agree!) however, with the league fully aware of the missunderstanding a walkover win has been allowed (wow a rule has been followed) when really common sense should have ensured the game was replayed. Why have the *******in rules in the first place....

dogger my advice would be to contact Mark directly ( croydonpoollge@aol.com ) and ensure everything checks out before you do anything. Caution and backing your arse on every move is needed on this one.

I would without hesitation.

Do you need to inform them? If so then just call them, let the phone ring once and then hang up before anyone can answer, then and this is the important part, you've got to turn your phone off as soon as you hang up! This will count as suitable notice to cover your arse.

duno when we're gona do it coz no one else can be bothered to play any other nights. (the whole team, including me did tell our sec to tell them no, that we wont postpone it, but he rung them n told them we would grrrr :p)

well we'll wait to see by how much we beat the eden on tuesday wether we have a chance for the title...

but in all seriousness, if we took a 10-0, we'd have a great shout with catching 3rd and getting promotion, although its not how we'd like to get there.

i think after this season postponing games should be banned. Only for reasons of Cup matches with pubs havin 2 teams using home table etc. Tuesday night is pool night. If you cant get a team together (of 5 people out of a possible 12 you can have signed...) then tough sh**. you forfit the game. thats what the rules state. If the match really means that much that you dont want to give away the walkover, then you'll manage to get a team together... (or get a cab!!!)

anyway. if we have not received any contact from the Waddon Wizzards by Tuesday (we will NOT be contacting them, it is not our postponement) we will be claiming a walkover win due to 2 weeks after original date.

Dogger - I would be careful claiming anything without talking to Mark. My understanding is that the 2 week rule does only apply to cup matches. Otherwise, as per Mark's results email you have to complete any postponed matches before the last game of the season. That said it will be up to Waddon to rearrange your game before then. However if they don't then I think that you would both get no points for a void match which is as equally punishing for you for being sporting in the first place as it is for them! That of course does not make sense!

surely all that is going to happen now based on this issue is that any team asked to re-arrange a match are going to say NO!

which brings us back to the rules that say no matches can be postponed full stop.

just so everyone knows, our postponed game with the waddon wizzards is provisionally booked for Monday 14th September. My secretary had a few missed calls today and after speaking to the waddon have arranged it for then. It needs to be confirmed by us on tuesday as cant get hold on any one else in the team lol.
cheers waddon for sorting it :)
