Ok I've just got home and am sherking going to work so I figured I'd steal Berty's thread and write a brief, totally uniformed report on tonights matches in Div 1.
Match 1
Bromley Cuemasters Vs Hotshots
Riding high in second place it was all looking pretty good for the CMs but a 5-2 defeat to possible relegation fodder Bloodhounds last week shows their shakeyness and asks the question were earlier results flukes? Hotshots on the other hand are picking up momentum with a convincing win over an in-form Coney team. Hotshots ability is undeniable.
Predicition: Bromley Cuemasters 1 : 6 Hotshots
Match 2
Patriots Vs Bloodhounds
Very much a David and Goliath match with the Bloodhounds getting over half their points total from last weeks win. Even on the back of that good win I doubt they'll have the power to overturn a 3 wins out of 4 Patriots team.
Prediction: Patriots 6 : 1 Bloodhounds
Match 3
The Propeller Vs Rileys Unpredictables
It's a shame that the Unpredictables are struggling at the moment and I can't see any let up for them tonight with the Prop being strong at home sitting in a deserved joint second place in the league standings. If the Unpredictables big players have big games there is a glimmer of hope for a win but I'm guesstimating otherwise.
Prediction: Propeller 5 : 2 R. Unpredictables
Match 4
The S.A.S Vs The Rack Pack
Everything to fight for in this game. Both teams not getting off to the start they would have hoped for especially with the Rack Pack's start ast season. Home advantage and chasing a very real chance of their first Div 1 win could be an influential factor in tipping the scales to the S.A.S.
Prediction: The S.A.S 4 : 3 The Rack Pack
Match 5
The Drillers Vs Red Dear Eagles
Drillers are on fire, 8-0 home win
Match 6
The Coney Cues Vs The Farley Eden
Quite possibly the most wanted win of the season for both teams due to ongoing banter and mutual repsect. Blood, Sweat, Tears, Fireworks, Touretes and a mixture of phenomenly amazing and incredibly shit pool normally grace the fixture. Looking at past statsitics between the teams, the home advantage and both teams start to this season the Coney definitely have the edge however nothing is being taken for granted.
Prediction: The Coney Cues 5 : 2 Farley Eden

cuemasters 2-5 hotsots
patriots 4-3 bloodhound
prop 4-3 unpredictables
sas 3-4 the rat pack
coney cues?-? the eden
think we may struggle against the hot shots tonight! were already a few players out tonight so pretty much a makeshift team so not expecting much. have to disagree with the fluke quote tho, that remark will be brought up for our match in the new year:clap:
patriots- bloodhounds, take the patriots to win but only just could be a tighter match than many think, they done a good job on us last week so on a high.
sas v rat pack.must win for both teams this one, another close game if the sas can field a team tonight but think the rat pack to take the honours.
prop v riley unpredictables another close game, if the riley have a full team they could pull this off but you have to go with the prop at home so a narrow 4-3
coney v the farley eden. the match of the night between one of the nicest teams in the league and the highly charged bad boys the eden cues, impossible to call and just has to be a 4-3 either way, both teams want it but only one will be smiling come closing time at the lodge.

Will the Prop and Unpredictables have thier Drillers infusions on Display?
Rainsy for the Prop
Samuels and Hoy for the Unpredictables. . . .
Will be a lot closer if that is the case.

Sorry this is coming late I have been on a long weekend piss up in Ireland.
cuemasters 2-5 hotsots
Cuemasters is not a fluke IMO I think that the season drop last year has given them a much needed injection of enthusiasm for this current season that gives them the edge over soime of the other jaded "Middle" teams in the league. Hot Shots have too much for this one, they played us with 6 players and the fact that I chose Ian Chapman to play again after his recent success kind of sums it up really. You need to be no worse than 2-2 to stand a chance, as power said they do seem to cruise to victory once ahead.
patriots 3 - 4 bloodhound
Patriots stronger than last season and the Bloodhounds in my opinion could be the surprise package this year if they can keep their heads up and not let the defeats get to them. I was mighty impressed with them and was not that surprised to see them beat the Cuemasters last week. My only doubt with them is that they may lose enthusiasm after bad results. The coney went about 8 games last season without a win but still finished in the top half of the table. The bloodhounds may have to show similar resilience if they are to stay up. Bloodhounds to win after a confidence boost last week
prop 5 -2 unpredictables
Unpredictables have signed new players and no doubt they needed to after a shaky start to the season. They have the players there but lethargy seemed to have set in. The ex drillers boys will surely not have as much passion playing for their adopted team. Prop to win.
sas 2-5 the rack pack
SAS have done nothing this season to suggest they are anything but massive relegation fodder. They meet their fellow struglers the Rack pack in a massive match at the foot of the table. Both looking for their first win and for the losers the next win will look so far away it will turn in to a mental battle for them for some time to come. The Rack Pack have to win and are the better team so my prediction is an away win
coney cues 4 -3 the eden
Well nothing really needs to be said about this one there is no hiding away from it that is for sure. Two teams that have shared at least two different venues, several of the players have shared the same team at one stage or another, one crazy night at the Elmer a couple of years ago, shared spoils of the previous encounters. Add all this to the mix and then say there will only ever be two more of these matches. The team that wins this match knows at worst they will part compaines at the end of this season with no worse than an equal record. For the losers the return fixture in the second half will be heaped with pressure as to not forever be in the other teams pocket. Bring it on!

Cuemasters 2-5 Hot Shots
The Shark changed my prediction with his confirmation that an under strength CM will turn up tonight, so I can't see the Hot Shots letting them off the hook for one minute.
Patriots 4-3 Bloodhounds
Experience will edge the Patriots over the winning line tonight who have yet to impress with some shaky results. Bloodhounds are a better side than most have suggested and of course can win this if they perform down the bottom half of the order.
Propeller 4-3 Unpredictables
The only thing predictable is that the Unpredictables will eventually pull themselves clear of the bottom half with their two new signings but not tonight. The Popes are now the backbone of the Prop side and a lot will rest of their shoulders if the Prop can muster a push to challenge the likes of the Eagles this season.
SAS 4-3 Rack Pack
Nothing was said last week about the SAS turning over the Rack Pack boys in the league cup group. This is a massive match for both sides in their current positions and I imagine its worse for the Rack Pack if they get turned over tonight because the SAS deep down must know the writing is on the wall this season. I still reckon the SAS will nick it.
Drillers -v- Eagles
The turmoil that the Drillers have caused by withdrawing from the league gives league leaders the Eagles the night off and for it they will take 5 points. No doubt the Eagles will all turn up at their home venue, which really seems to be Suzy Q's and have a practise. The ex-Drillers that have not found new homes will no doubt walk aimlessly from venue to venue for some shelter and shoulder to cry on.
Coney Cues -v- Farley Eden
Make no bones about it, the Coney matches are what the Eden are here for this season. The Coney have been on the Eden radar since we last played them on 6th March 2007. Truey nearly had to be sedated last week and was at times uncontrollable last Tuesday night when he spoke to the Eden boys of the importance of this game.
The Coney love how to tell you they have beaten us. In October 2006 we played them on a table at the old Coney venue that was more fit for ice skating than a game of pool. In March this year we turned out with 5 players, and two reserves. Well done to the Coney for winning both, but apart from themselves who are they really kidding?
This is why tonight carries so much for the Eden. Our two victories came at the Elmer Lodge both our wins coming with the match poised at 3-3. The infamous ''Battle of the Elmer'' in May 2006 says a lot about both sides. No quarter given by either side. Mutual respect went out the window that night and now there is history between the sides. We respect what the Coney have achieved since getting into Div 1, but thats it, we all know the Coney have won nothing to shout about. We'll all shake hands, share a joke or two but this fixture is tense because so much pride is at stake. Come 8.30pm the Eden is going to rock and roll.

I have predicted an Eden win, but genuinely hope the Coney turn them over. They are excitable, tosserlike and ugly in equal measures, at thats without foaming at the mouth.
Come on the Coney, give it the real Beckenham roar. The Eden are Beckenham sellouts!

Prop 4-3 Unpredictables
Sas 3-4 The Rack Pack
Coney Cues 5-2 Eden
Drillers 2 Eagles 5
Can't be bothered to comment on the other games tonight but think they will be closer than other predictions so far. Match tonight is all about Coney v Eden. We're at full strength again welcoming Rob, Merv and Dips back for selection. I think the first 4 frames will decide the match and hope Coney will edge that section 3-1. Whatever happens though this is what it is all about and can't wait having missed the two wins last year...

You have home advantage, and are after all a pub side with pub players so you should know the table like the back of your hand.
We expect to have a couple of bad rolls here and there. Messy, scrappy pool tonight is fine with us, the result is more important.

exactly hence why I was so surprised to hear you making excuses for your two defeats last season. A couple of guys said they might have to miss tonight and I said any other game would be fine. The fact is if you turn up short or with a weaker side in this fixture it is no excuse and cannot be used post event as some kind of reason for the loss. The teams are bigger than the individual so you wont hear any excuses from us tonight either way. The best team will win.
Posted by Lils on 27-11-2007 21:55

Berty - sorry to contradict you, but it wont neccesarily be the best team who wins matches like this; it's the team that wants it more. The team whos arses don't fall out at crucial times in a frame.
If a team turn up with a weakened squad and win, they'll be sure to point that out time and time again, so there are no excuses on that basis. What you have to think about is if this is the game both teams give as a reason for playing, why would any of your 'top' players not want to be a part of it, unless they're scared of losing?
Good luck to both teams - lets see who has the bollocks to win.

No excuses at the time but everyone connected with the Eden felt the table at the Coney was not far short of unplayable. We turned up short of 4 key players in the 2nd game last season and just got edged out. History says you won.
We only have 7 players this season. All are available tonight, and we are happy to be playing at the Elmer. It was our home venue for 3 seasons so why wouldn't we be pleased to be returning tonight.

We smashed you up in what was the only truely convicing win of the 4 match series so far. The second match was a horrible match in which you lost your arses.
Both teams have a near as damn it full squad available tonight so no excuses will be given by either side.

What I am saying is we didn't settle in the 5-2 defeat at the Coney and the table suited you and it was a contributing factor but we were beaten and we accept that. As for the second game if you are referring to Pedro's easy black miss and Donna's son turning out to make the numbers up for us as loses where we ''lost our arses'' then give yourself a big clap Palmer. Pedro plays once in a blue moon and is just about div 5 standard and the kid was doing us a favour.
Oh, just heard Tony Venus and Liam Connors now available for Eden selection.

The Coney Cues 3 : 4 The Farley Eden
There was some amazingly good pool from the outset with a flawless break and dish from Truey setting the standard. Naturally there was also some not so great pool. All in all probably the deserved result of the night. Well done Eden, especially well done to Keith who I am amazed has adjusted to world rules so well and played them at 3-3 to give you the win.
Good luck for the rest of the season, can't wait to rip your arses out at the return fixture.

Well played Eden on what overall was a deserved win. Truey set the standard to go 1-0 up with a B&D, before long we found ourselves 3-1 down without doing a massive amount wrong. We showed character to bring it back to 3-3 especially Ansell who gave us a chance going in to the decider. Keith played a tactically astute frame to edge out James on what was another tension filled evening that finally finished around 11:15. Totally gutted to have lost but well played Eden

prop 4 unpredictables 3,
only problem on the night was when at 3 each, mhm is playing jon hoy,mhm gos for finish ,cue ball about 10 inches away from ball he is ggoing to hit, he puts screw on the white but hits the ball so hard that thcue ball gos forward at 100mph,neither myself or gary who were refs called a foul as it happened so fast it was inpossible to tell if the cueball had been struck twice, however jon and the rest of my team were all convinced that it was a foul, even danny e insisted it was a foul and he was watching from 20feet away,we asked mhm after match if he did hit cueball twice and had got away with it and he said that he only hit cue ball once,i just know that if the player had been me and i thought that i had hit cueball twice i would have called foul on myself, even if the score was 3 each, wether or not mhm is not telling the truth is done and dusted now as he is now not as much respected as he once was from an unpredictable:no:

If you can't clearly see the 2 hits you can't call it.
Even with the old rules where any kind of push is illegal, I've had players play shots against me where the white has been hit twice and overtaken the object ball; clearly impossible for anyone to put so much topspin on the white that it travels faster than the ball it has just hit, but try explaining that to someone that is stupid, adamant he didn't hit it twice, and has momentarily swapped his cue for a broom.
Unfortunately it is even harder to call in World Rules as it clearly states you have to see it to call it, as a single contact push isn't illegal.
I'd have called it on myself, but others, rightly some might say, will play to the whistle.
It's one of those where the Ref has be adamant and insistent, or let it go. No middle ground.
So fault not with MHM, but with the Ref.

Tense match is an understatement. It was couldron of tension, passion and in the end guts. Twice before we have stood at 3-3 and pinched the last frame, now it's three times. The difference in the end was tactically the Eden played the rules better on the night. Keith was immense and surely has to be one of the best over 60's player currently in the Croydon league. He is having a cracking season so far. As is Scott, who is currently unbeaten in all comps.
Losses to Eagles and Hot Shots so far this season is no disgrace and our performances were good enough to have taken more from both encounters so the form coming into last night was there.
We'll take the win all day long, it meant so much more than 4-3 we got, though the Coney were for the taking last night and part of me is disappointed we didn't grasp all our opportunities and spanked them good and proper!
:band:
In the meantime, we'll enjoy the moment.....

me and a few of the cuemaster lads decided to pop down to watch the coney eden match which when we arrived was 1-3 to the eden. have to admit even tho from that point on the pool was very tedious and tactical you could feel the tension and desire coming from both teams to get the vital win, when the final black dropped the place erupted with hugs and jumping around and of course the eden roar while the coneys looked very gutted and down. best part for me tho was after where both teams exchanged sporting handshakes and compliments despite the joys and dissapointment of the match. well done

yer it was tense all right but the fact is that as I said to one of the Cuemaster guys on the night usually for example if you go 4-0 down you really want to get the final 3 frames to get some points on the board but in this fixture it just does not matter it is all about the result. The fact that i won the supposed grudge match with Alex also come the end of the night meant nothing.
When all is said and done I will never compromise a sense of sportsmanship for anything and losing to our biggest rivals is no different. We have had our differences and I know that even with all the stuff said on here that we all get on really, probably why it hurts so much to lose to the C*nts!!

Should have been a much bigger win - I think all the poney poos would agree ?
But a wins a win & all that - Nice for me to get back to winning ways this season with a B/D
Better luck in the return - your gonna need it fellas, at least we can sleep easy knowing we are once again the Kings of Beckenham - Pockets well & truly lined with the Coney's dreams - which are once again dust

Oh i almost forgot - Brilliant from Keith'the nugget' Barnetson
And well played to Young Matt Ansell - the 1 deserved frame from memory, the other 2 were more down to our errors - Nice of Alex to give Berty some pride back by missing a dolly

you had the chance to bury us however the "boy wonder" and alex lost their arses as you said giving us chances. didn't see Scotts frame but by the sounds of it he was good, Arthur finished brilliantly, Ansell finished excellently, dippy v Boy wonder had errors and barry lost his bottle. Keith played a good DF on the black to make it difficult for james but very nearly threw away the whole match after missing a dolly black to clinch it. James was left a tough pot for the coney to win but missed and the rest is history.

 Come on Matt, you know I am no good over 1 frame!
As for the 'Farley boy wonder', he is not the finished article yet. Playing in your first Eden/Coney match is never easy regardless of your experience because there is SO much at stake. Believe it or not loosing last night will probably do him a favour. He was bang up for the match so that says alot about his desire. He is learning all the time and needs to read the game better plus produce a B game when he is under the kosh. Its not all about potting balls he needs to grind out a few wins. Playing in Div 1 against better players who don't roll over will improve him and he deserves to be there.
As for Coneycueist, first shot he rushed all night was the long red for glory. Blocking the pocket early doors over Keith's yellow was negative and as soon as James played that shot it cost him the frame when he looked odds on to win.
Great match though, another classic at the Elmer.

Had to get a little dig in there Alex as I am now 3-1 up against you in league pool.
3-2 down is vs matches against the Eden
2-0 up in the the battle to finish highest in the league.
1 league match ever left and we are hoping for a knock out cup match or league cup match (if we make it) to have another shot at vengeance.
At this stage the coney are looking more likely than not to fold at the end of the season with some recent revelations so make no bones about it we must win the rematch which I am sure will be another fun filled evening.
Once again congrats and there was even talk on the back of the win of the Eden not folding after all....you are a fickle bunch!

tables (a bit of guess work with byes) are average results figured out before bonus points for example we have had 3 x 5-2 results, 1 x 6-1 loss, 1 x 4-3 loss 19 points before bonus points after 5 games. Does that mean our next game v drillers we will get (3.8) 4 points and thus 2 bonus points?

Well played to the Eden last night. A thoroughly deserved victory.
Focussing on the positives: Truey was a class act on 1, he showed tremendous strength of character and composure to B&D, particularly after building up the game so much. Both Matt's for the Coney: excellent pool under pressure.
But the night belonged to one person for me: Keith Barnetson. Played pressure pool with a smile on his face as ever. Top guy, great example to others.
Personally I let the team down. I was on 7 to do a job and didn't do it. I should have been more positive early on, lost the thread of the tactics towards the middle of the frame and Keith played tactically excellently to turn a losing position into a winning one. Presented with a life line I then missed a long pot I should have potted.
Anyway, well played to the Eden. No excuses, the better side one won on the night. Looking forward to the rematch.

At the point your match against the Drillers is played, you get your average frame score rounded up or down (depending on whether over or under 0.50.) and then two bonus points if you have averaged 4 or more, and your average frame score if it is less. ie we had 21 frame wins in 4 games, which equates to 5.25, rounded down to 5 add 2 =7

I've performed for my team for 20 years on and off the table. The last 9 of those years travelling 120 miles for one frame of lottery pool. So my teammates normally let me off when I loose!
Last night was poor though, it was too easy and I blew it. Story of my season, been getting in winning positions and fluffing the last ball or the black. Week before had 2 shots on the black and tried to dribble it over the bag and failed to hit a cushion!! I nearly got lynched by Truey!
Never been consistent enough over 1 frame format especially in Div 1 and in the end I notch up 50% or there abouts over the course of the season and to be honest I know that I a'int much better than that anyway.

That's right - you CAN'T call a foul if you can't see it. If he played the ball with screw from 10 inches away, the intention was not to play the white ball through, so the right call (i.e. NO foul call) was the right one.
jon and the rest of my team were all convinced that it was a foul.
You said it was impossible to see if the cueball had been struck twice because it went forward 'at 100mph'. Therefore they couldn't be convinced; it was simply their opinion.
i just know that if the player had been me and i thought that i had hit cueball twice i would have called foul on myself
You said you asked Mark if he thought he hit the cueball twice and he said no. Why would he call a foul on himself if he doesn't think he fouled?

Confused of Ewell.

Palmer beat Alex Barnetson
Luke lost to Scott lansing
Merv lost to Arthur H
Dippy Patel beat Barry Watkins
Matt Ansell beat Sting
James Davis lost to Keith Barnetson

I was surprised Paul did not play last night as we expected to see him in the line up. I rate him above the likes of Matt Ansell and Dippy Patel, though Matt played superb last night and on that basis deserved to start. Tactically it was a game for the Saxonator and I think Berty made a mistake with his team selection.

So if you think that Paul is better than Matt and Dippy and that Berty got his selection wrong would you have replaced Paul with one of those two?? As they both won i dont think that there is an argument... end of!!:wall:

Yep they both won, but thats not my point. I still rate Saxton above either of them. Tactically as a team you came unstuck last night, James and Luke both outplayed.
Plus if I am brutally honest, I have never seen you Mr Spry hang around and support your team in the 5 fixtures we have had, so on that basis I would not pick you infront of someone who supports his team mates albeit from the sidelines.

You cannot criticise my decision making based on the fact that potentially two people who paul would have replaced both Won. You are talking nonsense.
Paul is improving of that there is no doubt, However this season Dippy has won 4 out of 5 league games now and matt A is 2 out of 2 league games. End of conversation.
My only criticism of Paul which I have told him is that he plays every game as if he is playing andy breen as he is so used to playing with that calibre of player but sometimes the more simple percentage shot is the one to play rather than a df for example
I remember when paul first came down the elmer he didn't beat any of us for about a year and now he gives as good as he gets.

So in hindsight Luke and I were 'outplayed' but would have started, but you may have selected Paul in front of Dips and Mat, of whom Mat by your own admission was excellent in victory and Dippy also won. You would drop Rob Spry who is a minumum 65% + number one who gets on well with all the team but needs to leave early because traditionally he has an early start for work in the morning,
Jesus, I'm glad you don't pick the team. ;)

some people have to get home alex after getting up at stupid hours to start work.
Anyway I cant believe I am having this conversation with you.....
It would have been interesting to see who you would have dropped last night if you had more than 7 but you didn't so that is a non starter.
Taking team advice from a team that has had more superstars come and go than a blockbuster movie is a bit of a joke. Shall I start a list?
Our team has barely changed in the years we have been going based on the fact we bring people in who we know will improve the team dynamic and contribute to the "Team" the only people we have parted company with in the past have been players who were not quite making the grade or those who were probably more than good enough but too unreliable.
Rob S needs to leave early but he made near as damn it every game last season and this one to date when it has not been easy for him to get here for one reason or another so I will atke that commitment thank you very much.
The eden have historically tried to sign the big boys regardless of reliability and then have ditched their enthusiastic players who have needed work and support.
I just hope Barry makes the grade otherwise the Eden will be quick to get on his back and he will start to feel real pressure from them if he starts to lose more than he wins..

I get up at 6am, and don't get back home until 1.30am every Tuesday night. Arthur in my team gets up at 3am and never goes to sleep. Scott gets up at 5am, Truey is a broker in the City and is in at 4.30am. But they all hang around each week and cheer on their team mates.

Its like anything, when you are idolised by those around you and they persistently tell you that you are this and that then in the end you begin to believe you are good. Bottom line is son, you are not really that good, and carry the tag around of being highly overrated.
Truey smashes you more often than not. I feel sorry for you because surely Berty must see the pained expression on your face each time you play the Eden. We smile and say thanks again, its Spry on number one. 1 NIL EDEN.

Damn, I lost my frame, lost to the Eden and now I'm 'insigificant.' Not sure my life is worth living anymore! I only started the Coney with a bunch of school mates many years ago so I guess the Eden can thank me for the highlight of their season every year.
Well done Eden. Fantastically competitive ecounter and the best team won on the night. Agreed, I got outplayed tactically which doesn't happen often but an in-form Scott is a class act so no disgrace in losing to him. Having only had half a season in Div 1 with world rules I was exposed a little tactically but learned a useful lesson last night. Top performances from Truey and Keith. I'm sure there will be more of the same in the re-match but hopefully we edge it next time...

Errrrrr, lets clear this up. Graham Witt springs to mind. Left the Coney under a cloud mid-season to join the Brewers Victory. Reason: Because he won games and then got dropped for Berty's mates.
Here we go, I have another one for you Matthew. Danny Wordley - left the Coney for the Flying Machine. Reason: You guessed it, not given games when he won matches because Berty plays his mates.
Where is Rhys Bowen these days?
Paul Saxton, listen to me mate. Don't become another Graham Witt or Danny Wordley. You should of played last night and if you have enough of the Coney selection policy drop me a line, you can join us at the Eden and become a :winner:

IMO Saxton could not have been left out of the side if his exploits last Monday were anywhere near to how they were described . . He could have been the difference last night . . He could have brought home the bacon at 3-3 especially if it was tactical (Saxton's a fudger) . . It could have been oh so different . .
Is there a set criterie for selection at the Coney? I remember the Unpredictables having a "lose two in a row and you're out" rule once upon a time . .

I'll have to look out for your Sandals when we play you in a few weeks. Even sandals in winter? Controversial!
Nope, no set method to how Berty picks the team. Normally it is based on recent player results but sometimes for key games he will go with experience. To be fair to Matt I would have picked exactly the same team as last night and in the same order. Paul lost in the league cup game last week so that maybe was a factor.

Saxton should have played last night, Coney's mistake and our gain.
Berty picks his mates, thats the only team selection policy anyone needs to know about at the Coney. If your face fits you're in. If not, then you're out. Berty will tell us all different, he will come on here and lie to save his ass. Witt and Wordley could and should bury Berty for his statement earlier. Witt and Wordley were wronged by the Coney selection policy and Paul Saxton is the now the next one.
Bottom line last night: Spry should not play, firstly he seldom wins, is never a 65% man (I have two years of stats to disprove James comments). Secondly Spry is nothing more than a pool premadonna, he has duped his Coney bum buddies into thinking he is actually a good player, its like some Spry Pool Cult at the Elmer. Its sick, because they idolise him, they have pictures on their walls at home of the great man that is called Robert 'Nutty One'' Spry. Rumour has it Berty has a tattoo of Spry on his fat hairy left bum cheek. It apparently says, ''Robert you can break and dish me anytime big boy''.
Notwithstanding the facts that Spry turns up late each week, spins some yarn to his team mates about having to be home early to get his 9 hours of sleep before his hectic day starts at 5am. Last night Spry got what he deserved. Turned up, lost the toss, unlock his cue case, put together the cue, chalked up, 45 seconds later, undid his cue, congratulated Truey yet again for spanking his sorry ass and went home in time for ''I'm Robert Spry get me out of here''.

No that was the Eagles side. Cant really class that team as coming from Beckenham. Our entire team was aged between 14 and 18, expcept old Fred who was 993.

Lets face it, there has and WILL only be one side that is worthy of being the best side in Beckenham, and that is The EPH, Eden Cues. Nobody comes close in this current generation of teams as being on the same radar as the Eden Park boys or being worthy to dine at the same table.

Would i play him for money?? Now there is a question.. I have always refused to play for money as i've never needed it as in incentive to win. I guess as he does not rate me as a player and thinks i'm not that good then i'm sure he would offer me good odds to think about taking up the challenge. I'm sure this comment will spark him into calling me a bottler, chicken , coward etc.. I'm sure pride and bragging rights are sufficient, although in victory i would not taunt him on the website.

There will be no rematch Alex as I have said from even before we knew the outcome of the first match.
If it will keep you quiet I am happy to transfer the ?50 bet I offered Truey to the return match vs the Eden in the second half of the season (like it needed any more spicing up!)
Now can we drop hostilities for a few weeks? other wise when the rematch comes around the banter will have no effect. It will be like wearing your warmest coat indoors during winter. When you go outside you don't feel the benefit.
Shame this match wont go ahead but having said that not as much of a shame as if we were to lose the Spry from the Coney. Keep it real mate you know we love ya.

I'm not interested in a side bet on the return match. Beating you again will more than suffice. I'm sure Truey will take the bet though.
Part of you must feel you are letting yourself down - ducking me. The more you turn down the offer then the more I begin to feel like Lennox Lewis, and you my dear Berty begin to look like Riddick 'Big Daddy' Bowe.
Lewis publicly and openly humiliated Bowe for years because he ducked the big match. Lewis called him names like 'Chicken Bowe', and the 'Garbage Picker'. Its like us Berty, we play two frames of pool each season in the league, but everyone knows we are playing for the 'scraps'. The more you win, the more you become the 'garbage picker'. Everyone would love to see you back on the table and ripping me up....Don't let yourself be known as 'chicken Berty'.
One day you may wake up and smell the coffee....

The difference between me and you is that my life is not ruled by what other people think and all the bullsh*t that goes with it.
As I said at the time I did not feel like I let myself down and you were the better player and you won. For the final time WELL DONE.
My testosterone levels never have and never will rule my head wheras you seem to have man custard in stead of blood running through your brain, again well done (yes alex you are a big man).
As for letting myself down I would rather be in my position than that of you were you come on here every day and look like a complete idiot but again credit where it is due it makes the game more interesting.
You need agro to keep you going and to be honest with you we/I dont but we/I indulge your agro for the matches to add a bit of spice to it. We would be just as happy to play the game and share a beer but that is not your style, again which adds to the evening so I welcome it and am really looking forward to the rematch.
Every time you come on here you practically have conversations with yourself as you are physically incapable of ending a conversation without the final word so when it comes to Power Vs Berty the rematch in Dragons Deg style I am going to let you know where i am " I am out for all of the above reasons" I will not be investing my money in your future so you are going to have to go back to selling your ass for coppers to make cash on the side. This is my last word on this subject.
Please stop the text messages also I come on here during work hours to while away the time and have no time for this outside of Tuesday nights and office hours.
Thanks.

You either have a forgetful memory or a very short one Daniel. I think because we named Barry, 'boy wonder' you made a claim to have given that nickname to Kyle, and what followed was an offer from you for Kyle to play Barry. I think we all know that over distance Kyle is a big favourite. That is hardly ducking!
If you recall, we then spoke of the Eden never having any fear of the Eagles because reputations and big ego's win no awards with us. So you may recall the bet was:
Eagles v Eden, over 7 frames @ ?5,000 per man.

i am sure the goodfellows are more than up for tonight - Who wouldn't be with a place in the last 8 up for grabs, having said that we expect to win - 4-1 / 4-2 i reckon as they have some div 1 standard players & if we are off the game then they have the players to punish us......
Sure this is the wrong thread but i couldn't give a fcuk :box:

You either have a forgetful memory or a very short one Daniel. I think because we named Barry, 'boy wonder' you made a claim to have given that nickname to Kyle, and what followed was an offer from you for Kyle to play Barry. I think we all know that over distance Kyle is a big favourite. That is hardly ducking!
No really, that is ducking . . There is always a favourite in every match . . You can't lay claims to him being a "Boy Wonder" and then back down from that . .
Not really son.......
Kyle is an England International - Isn't he ?
so how the fcuk can they play off levels - I think the point was over 1 frame not a long distance match
I'm sure in the bookies when a top team/player players against 1 who has yet to play up to the same level you get a price - normally quite a good price, so Mr Evans what is the Price for Barry to Beat Kyle son ?
Either that or Barry gets a decent start in a race to 10
Both are options & i guess a really good experience for Barry - Either way Kyle may need to save up his paper-round money for a few weeks :sprint:

I expect Kyle would be happy to give him at least a 4 start to 10.
Maybe if Barry isn't up to playing kyle just yet, he'd play me for a few quid? After all, I've got a nailed-on £500 to come very soon . . .
