The Jolly 5-5 The Propellor

Some solid pool played when needed by some players on both sides, couple of frames could have gone either way

Gary and lads, cheers

Eagles 6 Pond 4

Could have been 5-0 down and were 4-1 up. Could have won 9-1 or lost 9-1. No game was won convincingly. Happy with the win if I am honest.

Cuemasters 8-2 Eden. Good to reverse the score from earlier in the season. Have to say the Eden were missing most of their old guard though. The newer players are class but not used to playing against the Eden without that typical fighting spirit on show the whole night?!

Legion 4 - 6 Bloodhounds

A good result after being 2-0 down, and it was particularly pleasing to avoid our second set collapse, which we have suffered from of late. Most of the frames were close - credit again to Nelio and Peter who won 2 out of 2.

My secretaries win should keep it close at the top - when are the rankings going to be updated? :O:

Huge game against the Pond Qs next week!!!!!

yes good win last night after monday nights mare! yes a very youthfull eden on display last night and definately missed alex, arthur, steve, scott without a doubt! them along with mr truan are the heart and soul of the team who the younger players feed off for inspiration! in saying that tho they still have a good team with watkins and the harkness brothers and farron rowe all very good players and keen to improve! last night we just took our chances better than we did on monday night which was pleasing. always a pleasure playing the eden boys at there old haunt there a top bunch and i am sure they will sort themselves out soon.

I think its known as a 'poor run of form'. We haven't won in the league since week 11, and only a draw against the current league leaders in the 2nd half of the season is terrible. Unbeaten during February, we have now followed that up with 6 defeats & 1 league cup draw during March.

Regaining some form is needed as each week we get sucked closer and closer the relegation zone and you can't keep relying on the teams beneath you to keep getting beat.

I'm not going to try and find excuses for last nights heavy loss, but we have barely seen Scott Lansing on a pool table all season, Fieldsy has retired from away game duty and Arthur has not played for our last 7 matches. Rob McDonnell sold his cue. All experienced players. All missing. If they don't want to play, we have to get on with it & thats what we have been doing.

Next Monday night is the focus now, and only one way to prove we can turn this poor form around and that is by taking out the Jolly on their home turf.

a good scond set from the hounds
can some please let the legion that tuesday night matchs start at 8.15 not 8.50 and that is when they are at home
at 8.15 they only had 2 players at purley and not one of them was the secretary.so we could not even fill the card in so that we could clam the frames that we could.
please bring on the summer asap with the 60 sec time clock

Chris, its tricky not to listen to all the rumours that circulate the Croydon pool circuit. Most of which, of course, end up to be totally fictitious.

We had a few words and that was that. End result is Steve is no longer playing for the Eden.

Let me just clear this one up. The Legion are a great bunch of guys, and the game was actually over relatively quickly (Clive was obviously away lol) so the 60 second rule wouldn't have made any difference to the length of the match itself.

However, I totally agree with Darren's point about the start time. As secretary, surely you should be setting the example by turning up on time and having the card ready. If you know you will be running late then leave it with one of the other boys to start filling in.

We were ready to start at 8.15pm to be faced with an opposition of 2 players (no jokes that we still would have lost please). I'm then informed that the Legion always turn up late. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just feel this is bad manners.
Any views from the other secretaries?

I don't remember them ever turning up late against us.

If there are two players there then you can start the match, you don't have to wait for the card.

agree with Steve...

home team should have min 3 players ready to play from 8.15 in my view, then after that, games forefitted where necessary, but this isnt always possible, so common sense should prevail, but teams can phone ahead if there are problems
no reasons given, then rules should apply
latest we have started this year is 8.30

Legion home matches are more like an away tie, think they all travel a fair distance to get to a home game. Not like going up to their old fortress in New Addington - in my view not the same side these days as a result of venue change.

I agree with power, a venue can a be big advantage to the home team.... In my opinion a venue like suzies has no home advantage at all there is just no atmosphere in there,it feels like a boxing day sale at house of Frazier at times in there :(

By the looks of half the people in there, they could do with getting themselves down to House of Fraser!

I agree entirely with Mr Deegan and all our team feel the same. Claiming games is just wrong.

Have to agree with Mr Deegan some of us work in London and find it hard to get to a venue by 8.15, so, to do so many of us forgo seeing our kids on a Tuesday. I have to admit that the only team that has *******ED me off this season is the Bloodhounds who turn up to an away venue and demand the card at 8.06 our secretary (who should have told you to get lost) felt under pressure to fill in the form playing our weakest team all season the full team were there at 8.15, but that was too late.proper first division sides show each other a bit of leeway and a bit of respect.

Games aren't finishing all that late generally, perhaps we could go back to 8.30 start?

That's a proper Sir Alex 'Nuttman' Ferguson rant, three weeks before their rematch with the Hounds.

The matches could go back to an 8:30 start for the winter. Its too late to change anything for the summer as a change would need to be voted in at an AGM

I am not sure that this would be carried though because although many matches are not finishing late, there are still some that are against slower teams.

Introduction of the minute rule may help to speed up matches

I don't recall starting a game at 8.15pm all season. Its been 8.30ish at the earliest.

Thank you Mr Saxton, I know all about AGMs and rules and regs etc.
You're probably right Alex but when the start time was 8.30 a lot of matches didn't start till 8.45.

Then people will turn up at 8.45 instead of 8.30. All it did, moving the 'official' start time to 8.15, was ensure that most games now start by 8.30. I can't honestly remember ever being in a match actually starting at 8.15.

Before anyone else says it, yes I know I'm Division 3 and should go back to my own threads.

I think a few people are missing the point I am making. I'm NOT looking to claim games and I understand that people have to travel (Darren lives in East London and commutes each week).
My understanding was that the game starts at 8.15pm, which means the card would need to be filled in before that time. I don't mind if the team is running late, but just let us know (.... I still don't think that standing outside smoking is 'running late' though).

With regards to us showing a bit of 'respect', perhaps the rules need to be a little bit clearer. We are not deliberately trying to get teams to play their weaker players, we are just trying to start on time! :D:

potterman if thats the way you want to win games by claiming them then you really are one sad person.

mind you after watching your player who played at number 1 i can see why you need to claim games!
