This is just to confirm that Danny Wordley, a current non playing reserve in the 'B' team will be transferring to the 'A' team as an active playing player and his first match will be against us (the 'B' team that is) on Sunday. I'm sure that I speak for all the 'B' team lads in wishing Danny well in his endeavours for the rest of this current SCPA Inter-League season. |

Not a good day at the office yesterday by the Croydon teams with the Surrey KO Cup competition. It was looking good at one time for 'B's who were heading for the semi-finals at one point after an 11-7 victory over 'A's and a 11-7 defeat to Frames Reigate and needing only a 10-8 victory over Reigate 'A' (who needed the same result also) and they blew us away in the first set by 8-1 needing only 2 in the second set. The B's did win that by 5-4 but alas the automatic entry into the National Finals had now gone and were then entered into the "Wild Card" part of the tournament where they quickly dismissed Guildfords interest in the competition by winning 10-2 where they met the 'A's in the final with the 'A's being victorious on this occasion by running out 10-7 winners. We are hoping that the EPA will grant Surrey 2 wild card entries whereupon Croydon will be represented by both sides. The tournament went on for over 12 hours but it was good experience for the new lads coming into Inter-League this season who held their own and played very well in their respective frames.

Croydon B were lagging a bit towards the end because it was such a long day, and some of our guys aren't used to the long haul.
Taking 7 frames off of Frames Reigate was impressive given the players they have in their team.
The general performance as a team was very good even though we didn't qualify direct. |
